At the time, the news wasn't too surprising, considering he had Trump on his podcast a few days earlier for a friendly, softball interview. But now, more than a year into Trump's second term, Rogan is openly questioning how the administration is handling immigration enforcement. Jeff Bottari / Zuffa LLC On the Jan. 13 episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan, in a discussion with Senator Rand Paul, argued that US immigration enforcement under the Trump administration has gone too far, saying it reminded him of the Gestapo (the Nazi secret police), asking bluntly, "Are we really going to be the Gestapo? 'Where's your papers?' Is that what we've come to?" PowerfulJRE / Via youtube.com While some people online say it's a good thing that Rogan is finally calling out how aggressive and unsettling some ICE actions have been, especially when innocent people or bystanders get swept up, others aren't letting him off the hook. They point out what they see as a clear contradiction: Rogan was a vocal supporter of Donald Trump's 2024 campaign, and immigration crackdowns were a clear and central part of Trump's platform. They're also saying that he has a part in what's happening. Does Rogan's critique signal a shift among his audience? Or is he just saying this to distance himself from the unpopularity of ICE?
