Amy Sussman / Getty Images Variety claimed that Jennifer was up against Margot Robbie for the role of Sharon Tate, who was tragically murdered during a home invasion in 1969. ANDREW COOPER / (C)Columbia Pictures/courtesy Everett Co / Everett Collection Of course, the role ultimately went to Margot, but at the time of the reports, Sharon's younger sister, Debra Tate, made it known that she didn't think Jen was "pretty enough" to portray the late actor. Sarah Morris / Getty Images "They're both extremely accomplished actresses, but I would have to say, my pick would be Margot simply because of her physical beauty, and the way she even carries herself is similar to that of Sharon," she told TMZ. Stephane Cardinale - Corbis / Getty Images "I don't think as much about Jennifer Lawrence. Not that I have anything against her but she just - I don't know - she's not pretty enough to play Sharon. That's a horrible thing to say, but you know, I have my standards," she added. Now, Jennifer has opened up about her appearance being criticized when people thought she was in the running for the lead role. Variety / Getty Images During a candid conversation with Josh Horowitz this week, Jen was told that Tarantino has been "chasing" her to work together. She replied, "Um, I don't know about that." Josh Horowitz / Via youtube.com Josh then said, "And I think Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, too. Didn't he want you?" to which Jen scoffed and replied, "He did, and then everybody was like, 'She's not pretty enough to play Sharon Tate.'" Josh Horowitz / Via youtube.com "That's not true," said Josh. Jennifer replied, "I'm pretty sure it is true. Or it's that thing where I've been telling the story this way for so long that I believe it. No, but I'm pretty sure that happened." Josh Horowitz / Via youtube.com "Or he just never was considering me for the part, and the internet just went out of their way to call me ugly," she added. Josh Horowitz / Via youtube.com Reacting to Jennifer's new comments, several internet users have recalled Debra's "messed up" comments. "I remember people making disparaging remarks about Jennifer's looks around this time, including, if I recall correctly, Sharon's sister. It's a shame it got back to her. And people wonder why so many celebrities end up getting plastic surgery," one person said, while another echoed, "Sharon Tate's sister calling Jennifer Lawrence 'not pretty enough' in the press was so uncalled for. And false." Daniele Venturelli / Getty Images Let us know what you think in the comments, and check out Jennifer's full conversation with Josh Horowitz here.
