Hawley will attend Canneseries and take part in a "meet with" event with industry attendees where he will discuss his unique approach to storytelling. "The global nature of modern television makes gatherings like this fruitful and necessary as we seek to tell stories that reverberate across cultures," said Hawley in a statement. "I appreciate this recognition from Canneseries Industry and am looking forward to discussing how we can all create more daring, explosive TV." The show earned 70 Primetime Emmy nominations, winning seven. Hawley began his TV career in 2005 as a writer and producer on the hit series Bones, and went on to create, executive produce, and serve as showrunner for ABC's My Generation (2009) and The Unusuals (2010). But his industry breakout came with FX's genre-defying series Legion, which he created. He celebrated his feature film debut as a director with Lucy in the Sky, starring Natalie Portman, in 2019. "It's a tremendous honor for the festival to welcome for the 2nd edition of Canneseries Industry one of the most respected modern showrunners, Noah Hawley," said Canneseries artistic director Albin Lewi. "Bringing Noah is a true achievement given the respect we have for his work, personality and the incredible universes he has built through his iconic TV series adaptations of Legion, Fargo and Alien: Earth." Multi-hyphenate Hawley is also a Writers Guild, PEN, Critics' Choice, and Peabody Award winner, honored for his work as a novelist, screenwriter, series creator, showrunner, and director. He's the best-selling author of six novels: "A Conspiracy of Tall Men," "Other People's Weddings," "The Punch," "The Good Father," "Before the Fall" and "Anthem." "Fargo: This Is A True Story," Hawley's companion book to the first three seasons of the series was released by Grand Central Publishing in 2019. Hawley is currently working, as creator, writer and showrunner, on FX series Alien: Earth, with season 2 set to begin production later this year. He is also set to adapt Ubisoft's hit video game Far Cry for the small screen. The concept on the show, following the game's standalone storytelling format, will see each new season in a new setting with a new cast of characters. Canneseries Industry runs alongside the Canneseries festival (April 23-28) and is designed as a event to facilitate connection and collaboration between creatives, financiers, broadcasters and technical experts. Participants attend a tailor-made program, or club, designed especially for them with a limited number of participants and bespoke panels, speed meetings, and pitch sessions.
