Chris Noth has tried to set the record straight about his response to a shady Instagram comment about his Sex and the City costar Sarah Jessica Parker. "My off the cuff slightly sarcastic response to a comment on the internet seems to have caused a tempest in a teapot. It is not news," Noth, 71, insisted via Instagram on Wednesday, January 14. "It is not worth all this discussion. It is a waste of time in a world where there are more important things to worry about." All of the drama started when Noth posted a seemingly unrelated photo of his gym workout on Saturday, January 10. "F&@k new years - LETS GO!!!!" Noth captioned the photo. And Just Like That's Biggest Scandals: Shocking Death and Departures In the comments section, one fan wrote: "You mean f*** sjp & her award right? Lol." "Right," Noth replied. The two were seemingly mocking Parker, 60, for accepting the prestigious Carol Burnett Award from the Golden Globes on Thursday, January 8, as part of the Golden Eve event. There have been questions about Noth and Parker's friendship in recent years. Parker and her And Just Like That costars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis publicly distanced themselves from Noth in December 2021 after he was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women. Per The Hollywood Reporter, two women anonymously came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct on December 16, 2021. The two women - who did not know one another - accused Noth of sexually assaulting them in separate incidents in 2004 at a West Hollywood hotel and in 2015 at his New York City apartment, respectively. (Several other women later came forward with misconduct allegations against Noth.) At the time, Noth dismissed all allegations of sexual impropriety as "categorically false." "These stories could've been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago - no always means no - that is a line I did not cross. The encounters were consensual. It's difficult not to question the timing of these stories coming out. I don't know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women." The allegations surfaced days after Noth's Sex and the City character Mr. Big was killed off. Noth returned for Sex and the City sequel series And Just Like That as Mr. Big but the character died of cardiac arrest in the show's controversial season premiere in December 2021. (Noth and Parker played out Big and Carrie Bradshaw's messy romance for 23 years by the time Big was killed off.) Five days after the first allegations emerged, Parker, Nixon, 59, and Davis, 60, addressed the matter in a joint statement. "We are deeply saddened to hear the allegations against Chris Noth," they said in an Instagram Story on December 21, 2021. "We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences. We know it much be a very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it." 'Sex and the City' Drama Through the Years: A Timeline Parker confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter in May 2022 that she had not spoken to Noth since she issued her public statement the previous December. The actress also seemed conflicted when asked to comment on the accusations. "I don't even know if I'm ready to talk about it, but I don't think ... I wasn't reacting as a producer. I should have worked on this because I'm just ... it's just," she said before trailing off. Noth seemingly attempted to downplay any friction with Parker in June 2023 when he responded to a New York Post article claiming he felt "iced out" by the And Just Like That cast, calling the article "absolute nonsense" in a since-deleted Instagram post.
