Two of Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner's children reached out to a death row inmate weeks after their parents were murdered. According to Nanon Williams, who has been incarcerated for 34 years for a murder he maintains he did not commit, Jake Reiner and Romy Reiner send him emails that were written on January 4, three weeks after their parents' death. "I know that they're going through probably the toughest moment they'll ever go through in their lives, but they're still expressing that, 'Hey, we're family. We're standing by you. We're going to be here forever, and we love you very much,'" Williams shared in an interview with People published on Wednesday, January 14. "They're private in their life, but they explained to me about how they lost their parents and in some ways, they feel like they lost their brother as well. So they explained to me exactly how they're feeling." Rob and Michelle were found dead inside their Brentwood, California, home on December 14, 2025. Us Weekly later confirmed that the couple's son, Nick Reiner, had been arrested on a murder charge following their deaths. Nick has not yet entered a plea and his arraignment was pushed to February 23, 2026. A public defender is currently representing Nick after attorney Alan Jackson stepped down from the case. "What we've learned, and you can take this to the bank, is that, pursuant to the law in California, Nick Reiner is not guilty of murder," Jackson told reporters after withdrawing from Nick's counsel. In his latest interview, Williams said he became "like family" to the Reiners after they attended a 2016 Los Angeles production of Lyrics From Lockdown, a show inspired by his experience behind bars. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience," Jake and Romy said in a statement released to TMZ on December 17, 2025. "They weren't just our parents; they were our best friends.
