Emma Stone will always be grateful for the life lesson she learned from Diane Keaton. The 37-year-old actress opened up about her late "hero" in an interview for W Magazine's Best Performances Issue 2026 last week. As you may recall, Diane unexpectedly died from pneumonia at the age of 79 back in October. Her death came as a shock and broke the hearts of many fans and her peers, including Emma. In fact, Stone is "such a diehard fan" of Keaton's, so her death hit really hard for the Oscar winner, it sounds like. When Diane's passing came up in the conversation with W, Emma admitted she was "getting choked up." However, she didn't let her emotions get in the way of honoring the First Wives Club star. The Poor Things leading lady first expressed that Diane was a "one-of-a-kind" woman who taught her the value of being her authentic self all the time: "She will always be my North Star, ultimate hero, because she taught me about not wanting to emulate anyone else, including her. She taught me how valuable it is to the world to realize who you are and what you can contribute. In so many facets, not just as the brilliant actor that she was, but as a director, photographer, curator of coffee table books, a person who made wines - she was just so herself. Houses, fashion, everything about her was one-of-a-kind and completely Diane. She's the person who really made me realize that the most valuable thing you can be is yourself, authentically. She was the best ever." She truly was. The Easy A star went on to say that Diane was "just so alive," adding: "I think life in general is very tragic and very funny at the same time. You're holding both things, typically, in the state of the world, in relationships, all of it. It's all kind of a tragic comedy. Anyone who can really channel that and bring it out the way that she did, it's just a gift to us all." Wow. Emma looked up to Diane so much. You can just tell. And those are such powerful words. We continue to keep Diane's friends and family in our thoughts as they mourn her loss. What are your reactions to Emma's beautiful tribute to the Hollywood icon, Perezcious readers?
