One Direction is closer than ever after Liam Payne's tragic death...but will it last? As you know, Liam sadly died at just 31 years old in October 2024 while on a trip to Argentina. He fell off of his hotel's balcony, leaving the world shocked and heartbroken. Directioners and his former bandmates alike are still struggling to come to terms with the fact he's gone over a year later, including his good pal Louis Tomlinson. Louis has previously spoken fondly of Liam, and even said he doesn't think he'll ever "accept" the fact his friend is gone. It's been devastating seeing each of the boys' reactions to the singer's passing, but Louis has been the most outspoken about it, even admitting in a new interview with Billboard that he and all of the 1D boys are closer because of it. Himself, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and most notably Zayn Malik have rekindled their friendships in the past year. We did hear about a potential fight between Louis and Zayn not that long ago, and it may have been exactly what caused the Walls singer to reveal he doesn't know if their rekindled friendships will last. The British pop star explained: "I suppose that we'll see in time [if we stay friends]." Oof. But I think we're all so busy, it's hard to keep that consistency. It also depends person to person." He went on to praise Niall for being the type of friend he appreciates most: "Like, Niall - and hopefully he'd say the same about me - we could not exchange a text in a whole year and then go for a beer and literally be chatting nonstop." Sounds like a typical adult friendship! But he doesn't seem confident that Harry and Zayn can do it like Niall can.
