Written by Oliver-Award winner Lindsay Ferrentino, the play tells the true story of Nick Yarris, who spends more than two decades on death row for a murder he claims he did not commit. He recounts his life story and how he got there to a prison volunteer. Brody reprises the role of Yarris after starring in the play's debut in London in the fall of 2024. He was nominated for an Olivier Award for his portrayal. David Cromer (The Band's Visit, Bug) is set to direct. Brody comes to Broadway after winning the Academy Award for best actor last year for his role in The Brutalist. Thompson, who appeared Off-Broadway in 2016, makes her Broadway debut on the heels of her Golden Globe nomination for Hedda. The Fear of 13 is based on the documentary directed by David Sington, which tells the true story of a man who was wrongly convicted in 1982 of the murder, rape and abduction of a Delaware shop assistant. Ferrentino, who penned this season's Queen of Versailles, in addition to plays such as Ugly Lies The Bone, was also nominated for an Olivier for the play. The Innocence Project, which uses DNA and other scientific evidence to prove wrongful convictions, is partnering with the Broadway production. Seaview, Wessex Grove and Gavin Kalin Productions are producing.
