Nikki Glaser took a moment to pay tribute to Rob Reiner at the Golden Globes - but the reaction is mixed! At the tail end of Sunday night's Golden Globes, the comedic host took the stage in a black-and-white Spinal Tap baseball hat, saying: "Well, that's our show. This one went to 11. Thank you guys for an amazing night, and I hope we found the line between clever and stupid. A good Chalamet to you all, good night!" Ch-ch-check it out: Nikki Glaser gives nod to Rob Reiner with Spinal Tap cap to close out #GoldenGlobes pic.twitter.com/b9rkn8O134 - Deadline (@DEADLINE) January 12, 2026 If you don't know, "went to 11" is a nod to the acclaimed director's hit Spinal Tap, in which a character shows off an amp that goes to 11, compared to the usually highest volume setting being 10. See (below): The nod to the late When Harry Met Sally director had viewers divided, with naysayers arguing: "'this one went to 11' the most tepid Rob Reiner tribute imaginable. literally a room full of people who knew him and that's what they did." "The so called Rob Reiner tribute just being Nikki Glaser wearing a Spinal Tap hat" "I love her lack of energy, go girl give us nothing!" Ahead of the show, the stand-up star teased that she wanted to pay tribute to the industry icon, who passed away last month alongside his wife Michele in a devastating tragedy that has rocked the Hollywood community. However, because the award ceremony doesn't include an in memoriam, she knew she had to get clever. She praised Chelsea Handler's nod to the filmmaker at the Critics' Choice Awards (in which she gushed about the actor in her opening monologue), telling USA Today: "I knew him but not really well, and it's delicate because we don't have an in memoriam, so there's not a whole section set aside to honor everyone that we've lost - but I have something planned that I'm going to do in my own way to just acknowledge him and celebrate him in my own way." That said, she didn't want to "linger on it too much, because I think that's what we've been doing for the past few weeks," she mused: "I just thought: 'If something happened to me and Rob Reiner was hosting a show, given our relationship, how would I want him to handle it?' And I think I landed on something that I feel he would do for me too." Despite some negativity, many viewers praised her for the "tiny heartfelt dedication," expressing: "It's nice that Nikki Glaser did a small tribute to Rob Reiner at the end of the show, but when did #GoldenGlobes stop doing an In Memoriam??? Because there were some pretty notable folks that died this past year." "Nikki Glazer honouring Rob Reiner when the @goldenglobes couldn't be bothered. At least the host understood the moment." "Bravo, Nikki Glaser. Bravo." Her simple acknowledgement is certainly better than nothing! What did you think of it, Perezcious readers? Tell us (below)!
