But while One Battle won a leading four film awards, Sentimental Value picked up just one prize, for best supporting actor, which went to Stellan Skarsgard. Some pundits had Sentimental Value faring much better among the Globes' international voters. And Skarsgard's win was somewhat of an upset as fellow nominee Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein) had won over Skarsgard in the same category at the Critics Choice Awards just last week. Skarsgard's win also came over two One Battle After Another actors, Sean Penn and Benicio del Toro, despite One Battle's Globes momentum. Indeed, Frankenstein, despite its five Golden Globes nominations and racking up nods from the producers, directors and screen actors guilds over the past week, suggesting a strong level of support in the industry for the Guillermo del Toro film, didn't win any of the awards for which it was nominated. Fellow five-time nominee Wicked: For Good was also shut out, an outcome that was perhaps foreshadowed by the film notably not being nominated in the best motion picture, musical or comedy category. Four-time nominee It Was Just an Accident was also predicted by some pundits to nab either best non-English-language film or screenplay, but the film, from writer-director Jafar Panahi, sentenced to a year in prison in absentia in Iran but receiving support in Hollywood, additionally went home empty-handed. While One Battle After Another was expected to perform well at the Golden Globes, as the Warner Bros. film is snatching up one award after another, the movie, which had been winning best picture and director trophies at the Gotham and Critics Choice Awards, respectively, but seeing its cast go unawarded, broke that streak with Teyana Taylor winning best supporting actress in a musical or comedy. And while Hamnet is a frontrunner for an Oscar best picture nomination, along with One Battle After Another, Sinners and Marty Supreme, the Chloé Zhao film was far from a unanimous pick among pundits to triumph in the best motion picture drama category at the Globes. Some pundits had Sinners winning the award, while others went for Sentimental Value. Even Zhao seemed visibly surprised by the win. On the TV side, top nominees The White Lotus (six nods) and Only Murders in the Building and Severance (four each) all went home empty-handed, with frontrunners Britt Lower and Kathy Bates losing best TV drama actress to Rhea Seehorn for Apple TV's new sensation Pluribus.
