He beat out a talented, funny and familiar group of fellas that also counted Adam Brody (Nobody Wants This), Steve Martin (Only Murders in the Building), Glen Powell (Chad Powers), Martin Short (Only Murders in the Building) and Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) "This is so weird," Rogen said to start his acceptance speech. "We just pretended to do this and now it's happening." Rogen is referring to episode eight of his Apple TV series, "The Golden Globes" (released May 7, 2025), in which Matt Remick (Rogen) and his Continental Studios staff attend the Golden Globe Awards. The show went to great lengths to re-create, well, tonight. In the episode, Remick hopes his nominated film's director Zoƫ Kravitz (playing a version of herself) will thank him in her speech if she wins. She does win, and despite all the nonsense leading up to the moment, Kravitz indeed thanks Remick. One problem: her mic was cut off just before the studio boss got his flowers. Guess who handed Rogen his real award on Sunday? Kravitz and Rogen's good buddy Dave Franco. "The Golden Globes" was inspired by a real story. After one of Rogen's films won an award, at an afterparty, an executive producer who did not get name-dropped from the stage was found crying. Tonight was life imitating art, imitating life. Rogen was right - it was "so weird." This year's best male actor in a comedy (or musical, though the genre rarely has representation on screen, let alone here) had mostly familiar faces. White won the trophy last year (and in 2024, and in 2023...), beating out Brody, Martin and Short in their same respective roles, as well as Ted Danson (A Man on the Inside) and Jason Segel (Shrinking). The full list of the night's winners - all 28 - is here. Comedian Nikki Glaser returned to host the Golden Globes on Sunday, marking her second year in a row (and ever) as emcee. The longtime comic's mainstream breakout moment came as a performer the 2024 Roast of Tom Brady on Netflix. Also returning to the Globes were showrunners/executive producers Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner of White Cherry Entertainment. These 83rd Globes aired live from 8-11 p.m. ET/5-8 p.m. PT on CBS and streamed on Paramount+ (in the U.S.). Golden Globes producer Dick Clark Productions is owned by Penske Media Eldridge, a joint venture between Penske Media Corporation and Eldridge that also owns The Hollywood Reporter.
