Georgia authorities have arrested a 23-year-old father for the role they allege he played in the violent shaking death of his newborn daughter. Douglasville Police said that Geordy Josue Hernandez Ventura is being held without bond after being charged with murder, aggravated assault and cruelty to children stemming from the death just days before Christmas of 3-month-old Isela Hernandez. Cops said that interviews conducted as part of their investigation as well as forensic evidence showed the newborn was handled violently by her dad. Police allege that Ventura shook little Isela so hard, she started struggling to breath. On December 22, 2025, Douglasville Police responded to Ventura's apartment after someone reported an unresponsive baby. "Our officers performed CPR, but the child later died at the hospital," reads a statement from police. According to a GoFundMe campaign launched December 26, 2025, to cover the infant's funeral costs as well as medical expenses and therapy for the baby's mom, "Isela was a gift from God, our miracle, and our greatest love. In just three months, she taught us what it means to love without measure. Every look, every movement, and every breath she took is etched in our souls. Police Arrest Oregon Dad for Allegedly Beating His Days-Old Son to Death "Today," the GoFundMe page continued, "we are experiencing the greatest pain of our lives, trying to honor our daughter's short but precious life and support each other as mom and dad. We trust that Isela rests in the arms of our Lord, surrounded by peace, light, and eternal love. Every prayer, every message, every gesture of love, and every donation is a hug that helps sustain us during this painful time. You not only help us with your support, but you also honor the memory of our beloved Isela, and that means more than words can express." The page added, "We feel your love, we receive it with infinite gratitude, and we carry it with us every day. Every person who accompanies us, even with a thought, a prayer, or a message, becomes part of our family during this time of mourning." This is the second arrest this week in Georgia involving a man who allegedly killed an infant. Willie George Northern Jr., of Kathleen, has been charged with murder, cruelty to children and tampering with evidence for allegedly killing his girlfriend's 6-month-old baby boy, Myles Walker. Deputies were called about an "infant not breathing" at a home in Macon on the evening of Sunday, January 4, where they spoke with Northern, 24. The deputies learned that he was the one who called 911. Missouri Toddler Had 'Black Eyes' at the Time of Her Death, Dad and GF Charged Northern allegedly told deputies that he "was watching his girlfriend's newborn son" and "fed, swaddled, then laid the infant to rest," authorities said. Northern said that he put the baby on an air mattress and took a shower. Following the shower, Northern allegedly "observed Myles laying face down in the bedding." Myles died days later after suffering multiple brain bleeds and a broken collarbone.
