Nick Reiner has been living at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in downtown Los Angeles ever since he was arrested in December 2025 for allegedly killing his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner. About a month after Nick, 32, moved into the facility on December 15, 2025, Us Weekly has gotten insight into his current living situation. According to the Twin Towers Correctional Facility Unit Orders manual obtained by Us Weekly, Reiner and fellow inmates are served breakfast around 6 a.m. each day. Lunch is served around 10:30 or 11 a.m., while inmates get to enjoy their dinner around 5 p.m. The jail usually serves cold foods for breakfast and lunch, while a hot meal is typically served for dinner. If an inmate misses one of their regularly scheduled meals, the jail will provide them with a sandwich, fruit and a beverage in place of that meal. The manual states that supplemental food must be served to inmates on medical diets that require more than three meals a day. Some of the inmates, including Reiner, require special handling for factors including mental and physical health needs or for being viewed as high risk. An inmate can be deemed for special handling at the request of a lawyer, the District Attorney's office, the inmate themself or another person. The purpose of special handling is to protect and segregate those incarcerated. Special handling inmates are "identified by the color and classification symbol noted on their wristband," according to the manual. The system helps ensure that inmates are properly classified and housed within the jail. In order to qualify for special handling, inmates must have a Special Handling Form (SH-J-181) completed and sent to the Watch Commander for approval and signature, according to the manual. If the request is approved, the form will be sent to the IRC Classification Unit for possible reclassification. While the decision is being made, the inmate will be isolated from others until IRC completes its review, and a disposition is reached. Nick was originally put on suicide watch, though he is no longer on watch and the jail removed the suicide-prevention vest he was previously required to wear at all times. The jail has procedures set in place for suicidal or mental observation for special handling inmates. According to the manual, deputy personnel who see an inmate exhibiting unusual behavior that could lead to them injuring themselves are supposed to report the behavior in a psychiatric referral form. If a mental health professional determines that an inmate with special handling classification is in need of mental health care, employees will make sure that the inmate's health and safety is the top concern. Rob and Michele Reiner's Deaths Came After Repeated Police Calls: Report The Medical Liaison Sergeant, TTCF PPO Deputy and mental health staff will consult to determine the best suitable housing location for the inmate who is in need of mental health care. Employees will consider the security of the facility, the inmate and their mental health while determining next steps. Some ways the suicidal inmates are taken care of include always being escorted by custodial personnel, not being allowed to participate in any group activities, remaining handcuffed during mental health interviews and making staff members aware of the inmates needs before they work with them. Nick was arrested just one day after Rob and Michele were found dead in their Brentwood, California, home when they were found with apparent stab wounds. He was later charged with two counts of first-degree murder and has not yet entered a plea as of his hearing on Wednesday, January 7.
