The HBO series, created by Mike White, will use the Château de la Messardière in Saint-Tropez, France, to double as part of a luxury hotel chain whose guests keep getting murdered. The hotel, open seasonally from late April to mid-October, sits a little inland from the coastal French Riviera town of Saint-Tropez but offers views of of the sea and accommodations that will set you back about $1,300 per night in the smallest room on opening weekend. HBO declined comment. HBO confirmed in November that season four of The White Lotus would film in France, marking the show's second trip to Europe - season two filmed in Italy, between installments set in Hawaii and Thailand. Details are, as usual, being kept quiet, though the show has cast its first two actors of season four in Alexander Ludwig and AJ Michalka. White - who will next be seen competing on the 50th season of CBS' Survivor - is currently writing the show. According to the hotel's website, the Château de la Messardière was built in the 19th century by a wealthy cognac merchant named Gabriel Dupuy d'Angeac, who then gave the chateau to his daughter Louise and her husband as a wedding gift. Following her husband's death, Louise converted the property to a hotel, which became a getaway for wealthy Parisians in the 1920s. The chateau later fell into disrepair but was restored in 1989; it's now part of the Airelles group of luxury hotels. Season four, which will also employ other locations in France, is slated to begin production in the spring. White, David Bernad and Mark Kamine executive produce The White Lotus.
