Ashley Tisdale is no stranger to publicly feuding with famous pals! Before the messy mom group drama with Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore, and Meghan Trainor, there was her falling out with longtime best friend Vanessa Hudgens! Perezcious readers know the pair were thick as thieves since 2006, when they starred in the popular Disney Channel movie franchise High School Musical together. They were so close that Vanessa was a bridesmaid when Ashley tied the knot with Christopher French back in 2014. However, fans began to notice something was off with their friendship when the Phineas and Ferb star did not attend Vanessa's wedding to Cole Tucker in 2023. Their other High School Musical co-stars, including Lucas Grabeel and Monique Coleman, showed up - but no Ashley. That led many to think they were feuding. The He Said She Said singer only fueled the rumors when she revealed on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen the following year that she hadn't "seen her in a long time." Ashley blamed the distance on being busy, but as her mom group drama is exploding this week, a source is coming forward to share what really happened! It sounds like a lot more caused their friendship to break up - and it has nothing to do with busy schedules! A source told The US Sun on Thursday that Ashley and Vanessa began to drift apart when they "grew into very different adults." However, the straw that broke the camel's back was the Spring Breaker star's split from Austin Butler. You may recall that Ashley met and became friends with Austin when they filmed the movie, Aliens in the Attic, in 2009. They worked together again on Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure in 2011. But their friendship officially ended when Austin [Butler] broke up with Vanessa." According to the insider, Vanessa felt like Ashley didn't have her back during the breakup with Austin and focused too much on herself: "Ashley and Austin are best friends too and Vanessa felt Ashley was much more supportive of Austin than she was of her. She didn't feel supported during that breakup and felt Ashley focused on herself, her family, and her problems when Vanessa was in a time of need." Yikes! Ashley seemingly chose Austin's side rather than her longtime bestie's! And let's not forget. This is a bit of a pattern for Ashley. She also continued to remain close pals with Zac, even after the split with Vanessa in 2010. And it sounds like the Sneakernight artist reached a point where she had enough with the betrayal. Two strikes, and Ashley's out! The insider added: "Eventually, it was healthier for them to no longer have a close friendship, so there was never a question of Ashley being invited to her wedding. By that time, they were done. Ashley tries to seem like a girl's girl, but she doesn't back that up when she's needed by her closest friends." Hmm. Ashley doesn't "seem like a girl's girl." The insider continued: "Her friends felt the amount of self-absorption she showed just got worse, and it was impossible to maintain a friendship with her since it was so one-sided. It seemed like she was only interested in things that benefited her or suited her interests."
