More than six months after Mallory Barbour was reported missing from her home in northwest Washington state, police say they have arrested the man they believe is responsible for her disappearance and tragic death. The Mason County Sheriff's Office announced in a Facebook post on Wednesday, January 7, that "detectives arrested a 45-year-old Bremerton man in connection with the death of Mallory Barbour and booked him into the Mason County Jail. "Our thoughts remain with Mallory's family and friends affected by this tragedy," the sheriff's office concluded in the statement. Police have not revealed the name of the man arrested in connection with Barbour's death. However, only one man was arrested and charged with homicide at Mason County Jail on January 7, according to only records viewed by People. The Mason County Sheriff's Office did not immediately respond to Us Weekly's request for comment. Barbour was first reported missing on June 24, 2025, after she was last seen leaving her home in Bothell, Washington. Her body was found nearly three months later on September 15, 2025, in a remote wooded area off State Route 3 and Pickering Road, according to KOMO News. The location where her body was found is about 90 miles by car from her home. After her body was recovered, officers with the Mason County Sheriff's Office said Barbour was found with multiple gunshot wounds. Additionally, it's believed she was left in the wooded area for months before she was found, per KOMO News. Barbour's loved ones have expressed shock about the killing, and her friend Ashley Ainge previously told KOMO News in November 2025 that Barbour was "just the last person that deserved to have this happen to her. "Mallory was amazing, Mallory was so full of love and life," Ainge continued of her friend. Meanwhile, Barbour's mother opened up about what type of person her daughter was while speaking to Fox 13 in November 2025. "She was a great person, she doesn't deserve this, she did nothing wrong and she was just in a bad place at a bad time," Denise Barbour told the outlet. "Just knowing that she would have a life that would be enriched, that she would be happy and be able to work in our community. Have a partner, maybe even grandkids, maybe."
