Posted 33 minutes agoThis Ex-Disney Star's "Uncomfortable" Experience Waiting On Ashley Tisdale At A Restaurant Has Resurfaced Online Amid The "Toxic Mom Group" DramaAnneliese waited on Ashley at a New York restaurant after the pair had been on the Disney Channel together.by Leyla MohammedBuzzFeed StaffFacebookPinterestLink Ashley Tisdale has been at the center of public attention lately after penning an essay about her "toxic" former group of mom friends. Robin Marchant / Getty Images In the piece, which was published by the Cut earlier this week, Ashley wrote, "I remember being left out of a couple of group hangs, and I knew about them because Instagram made sure it fed me every single photo and Instagram Story. Another time, at one of the mom's dinner parties, I realized where I sat with her - which was at the end of the table, far from the rest of the women. I was starting to feel frozen out of the group, noticing every way that they seemed to exclude me." While a representative for Ashley denied widespread speculation that her essay was about celebrities like Mandy Moore and Hilary Duff - who were all part of the same "mom squad" - Hilary's husband, Matthew Koma, stirred the pot by parodying the article and dubbing Ashley "self-obsessed" and "tone-deaf." Amy Sussman / Getty Images "When you're the most self-obsessed, tone-deaf person on Earth, other moms tend to shift their focus to their actual toddlers," said Matthew's post. Matthew's post, as well as ongoing internet speculation, has fueled all sorts of theories about what actually went down between Ashley and her former friends. And amid the discourse, a resurfaced clip of ex-Disney star Anneliese van der Pol recalling an "uncomfortable" experience with Ashley has gained fresh traction online. Dominik Magdziak Photography / Getty Images In 2023, Anneliese - who played Chelsea on That's So Raven between 2003 and 2007 - opened up about taking up waiting jobs in New York after her Disney stint. "The disappointment, the look, the drop of faces when [people] recognized me, was truly gut-wrenching. It's almost like I had to say, 'I'm OK. I'm actually really happy that I don't have to audition and am doing something I know I'm good at,'" she recalled on her and Christy Carlson Romano's podcast. (C)Disney Channel/Courtesy Everett Collection "I remember one time, I ran into Ashley Tisdale and I had to serve Ashley Tisdale. I wanna say she was lovely, but...," Anneliese said before trailing off and sipping her drink. Raymond Hall / Getty Images Anneliese then added, "She didn't do anything, but she was uncomfortable for me. She was so uncomfortable. It was like I had to [be like], 'I'm fine, girl!" Well, in light of the recent "mom group" drama, several fans are looking back at Anneliese's story through a new lens, with one comment reading, "Sucks that Ashley made that run-in awkward for her instead of a nice little moment," and another stating, "Sheesh, what a turn of events for Ashley." However, at the same time, tons of people actually jumped to Ashley's defense, arguing that her reaction was nothing out of the ordinary. Steve Granitz / Getty Images "It sounds like Ashley was more just awkward and unsure if she should or shouldn't say something about Anneliese's situation and acknowledge the elephant in the room, which is somewhat understandable. That said, that essay did Ashley absolutely zero favors," one person said. Michael Tullberg / Getty Images "She probably didn't expect to see her and was... uncomfortable, probably not knowing how to act," another user agreed. Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
