Margaret Cho is opening up about a less-than-ideal onstage moment brought on by the side effects of weight loss medications. "I started taking all these weird drugs. There [were] also foods that would move food through your body quickly," Cho, 57, said on the Wednesday, January 7, episode of the "How to Fail" podcast. "All these sweeteners would make you just have diarrhea constantly. I just started eating only that and then taking these drugs that would remove the fat from the food that you ate." In the early days of her stand-up career, Cho suffered from anorexia and frequently tried to lose weight by taking various medications. (While Cho did not disclose the medications she tried on Wednesday, Orlistat is a drug commonly used to prevent an individual's body from absorbing dietary fat in food.) "I was taking all these weird drugs that would just make you s***, and also I wore a lot of white," she recalled. "There was one time I was wearing all white at a show, and I was killing. I was doing well and I was almost at the end, and I started to s*** out. I couldn't control it." Rosie O'Donnell and More Stars Who've Used Mounjaro for Weight Loss Cho continued, "It was starting to come out because it was all oil [and] it was just grease because it was fat. You remove the fat from your food, all it comes out [is what] looked like pepperoni grease that you plot on top of a pizza. This is orange, and I think the pills that you took were orange so it would dye the oil fat and cling to it and push it out of your body." As a result, Cho's white "dress-and-pants combination" was stained bright orange. "I started spurting orange grease out of my a**hole while I'm onstage," Cho said. "I ended the show while the s*** is coming out. I got a standing ovation, they wanted an encore [and] all I could do was back out of view through the curtains." After leaving the stage, Cho quickly "squatted on the ground" to release the remainder of the orange-stained oils as a way to alleviate her cramping. "It was easy to pull [my pants] down. They were, like, a loose drawstring pant," she added. "I got up, and my car was right outside the stage door. There was nobody backstage, there was nobody in the parking lot. It was just a single space for one care. I got in the car [and] I could still hear the audience applauding, like, demanding an encore." Margaret Cho's 'Live and Livid' Tour Is the Purr-fect Place for Her Pets Cho continued, "As I drove away, I had a huge orange oil stain in the front seat of my car that I could not get out. I had to just get a new car." According to Cho, she was also in tears at the time. "I was crying [and] I was really upset," she admitted. "I was really, like, disgusted. I was also concerned because I knew I was staining the seat in my car, and I was not sure how I was getting [it out[ because it wasn't leather seats. They were fabric seats that would absorb it. [The seats were now] so orange and it smelled, and I was also laughing 'cause this is really funny too." Cho stopped using the weight loss medication following her stage accident.
