Madi Prewett is looking back at how faith impacted her journey on The Bachelor. "I just really felt this radical peace to say yes. I had never really seen the show before," Madi, 29, said during "The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast" episode, released on Tuesday, January 6. "I didn't really know what I was saying yes to, but I really felt like it was what the Lord was leading me to do, even though it truly made no sense." Prior to appearing on Peter Weber's season of the ABC reality show in 2020, Madi said she would "never" go on a dating show. When Madi found out that her friends applied on her behalf, her first thought was "no." However, she prayed on it and made a different decision. "With my family over the next couple of months, we just continued to take it to God," Madi said. "I kept taking the next steps just in peace. [I] felt the peace to keep saying yes." Bachelor' Alum Madi Prewett's Honest Quotes About Sexuality and Marriage Us Weekly exclusively revealed that Madi would be joining Candace Cameron Bure for the 13th season of her eponymous podcast. "I loved sitting down with Madison to talk about living boldly for Christ and how staying true to your convictions can help you navigate life's ups and downs with confidence and joy," Candace, 49, told Us. Their first episode didn't disappoint. "I was not willing to settle for anything less than God's best. So I continued to have this prayer in my mind and in my heart of just like, Holy Spirit, lead me, show me, reveal to me," she recalled. "I am not going to compromise, cave or give in just because I'm being told to or just because everybody else may want to do that. Or just because even my own heart, maybe, wants to do that in this environment and moment." She would hide in the bathroom - where there were no cameras - to pray on the show. "I just put my hand over my mic and I just would cry out to Jesus and ask him for help and to show me the way," Madi recalled. "It was really hard and crazy." Experiencing Trauma From the Show Madi explained that she had "two different traumas" during her time in Bachelor Nation. "It was like when I was filming the actual show and just the pressures," she recalled. "There [were] just a lot of really dark things that were happening. You're just in a very competitive, comparison, striving for attention, validation environment. It can feel really toxic even if that's not the intent." Continuing to Practice While she didn't have any "access" to family, friends or worship music, Madi was able to keep her faith alive by reading scripture. "I did have my Bible," Madi said. "Praise Jesus." Bachelor's Madison Prewett Lost Weight While Filming 'Traumatizing' Season 24 The Power of the Holy Spirit Madi explained that the Holy Spirit told her mom to write 41 letters before her daughter left for the show. "She gave me the stack of letters the day that I was leaving for the show. As I'm there, I'm reading a letter every single day. The day 41, actually marked the day of hometowns. "It was the day that I was seeing her." Madi continued, "But it was truly crazy. Every day I would read a letter from her and it was, truly, the Holy Spirit to me. Just keeping me going, keeping me grounded, reminding me of truth, encouragement when I needed it." Overall Feelings After the Process When looking back, Madi said she's "so grateful" for her time on the show. "I think that it took me a year and a half to say that sentence because I was just dealing with a lot of trauma, hurt, pain, adjusting to my new, I guess you could say, life," she explained. "Working through a lot of that."
