The case involving an Ohio couple found dead in their family home has shocked the nation. Spencer and Monique Tepe were like many other couples in their 30s: hard workers, dedicated parents, and beloved by many. Spencer worked as a dentist at Athens Dental Depot in Athens, Ohio, but raised alarms on December 30 when he never showed up to work. According to WSYX, Dr. Mark Valrose contacted the local Columbus Division of Police requesting a welfare check when Spencer, 37, failed to come into work or pick up the phone. Per a transcript of the 911 call, placed at around 9:03 a.m. local time, Valrose told dispatchers: "He is always on time and he would contact us if there was any issues. I don't know how else to say this but we are very, very concerned. This is very out of character for him. We can't get in touch with his wife, which is probably the more concerning thing." An officer arrived at the Tepe family home at approximately 9:22 a.m., but no one answered the door. After that, multiple co-workers banded together to drive to the home and investigate for themselves, according to multiple outlets. Later, the same person called 911 again with a disturbing update: they could apparently see Spencer's motionless body lying near his bed. "He appears dead," the friend told police. Cops rushed to the scene once more and tragically found both Spencer and Monique dead inside the home with multiple gunshot wounds and 9mm bullet casings surrounding their bodies. Fortunately, the young children and the Tepe family dog were unharmed. Investigators have since ruled out a murder-suicide, but are puzzled by the fact that there were apparently no signs of a forced entry. As of now, they have yet to reveal a possible motive for the murders, but are investigating the situation as a homicide. An official cause of death has yet to be ruled as the coroner's office awaits toxicology results. In the meantime, however, cops have identified a person of interest in the case as a shadowy figure can be seen in doorbell security footage walking near the Tepe family home. In the footage, the person of interest is wearing a black jacket with their hood up and hands in their pockets. See the video (below): Cops believe the murders happened sometime between 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. on December 30. What a troubling and tragic situation... and completely traumatizing for the couple's two young children. Spencer and Monique, 39, were reportedly weeks away from celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary. Our hearts go out to their loved ones. We hope more answers surface soon.
