Cher and Kristen Bell's mentor-mentee relationship in Burlesque has gone beyond the big screen in the years since the film's release. Cher, 79, and Bell, 45, costarred in the 2010 musical movie as burlesque lounge owner Tess and performer Nikki, respectively. While their characters formed a close bond on screen, Cher and Bell also developed a friendship off camera. The pair opened up about their dynamic during Cher's appearance on the Monday, January 5, episode of the "Armchair Expert" podcast, hosted by Bell's husband, Dax Shepard. Cher even gave her brutally honest opinion of Shepard, 51, telling Bell that she's "definitely the better half" in their marriage. "Who would be your dream partner for her? Because I know you think she could be better, and I don't disagree," Shepard asked Cher. "We were very simpatico, and I respected her a lot. I didn't know who she was, but she was good," she said. "I don't know if you want to accept it or not, but that was one of the reasons that I gravitated towards you because I definitely, when I first booked that movie ... I was like, 'Oh, my gosh, I'm going to be in this movie with Cher, and she's an icon.' But your vibe in real life is so grounded," the Veronica Mars alum explained. Cher said she learned the advice from her mother and has "used it [her] whole life," just like Bell.
