Hernández, who has been on the SNL since 2022, was asked by The Hollywood Reporter at the 2026 Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday what it was like seeing the Wicked actor leave. "He's a guy that I've seen work so hard and he put up numbers," he said. "You know, if this was a team, he'd be one of those guys that had a great career, and I'm excited to see what he does next. And he's the man. Everybody loves him. You know, I'm one of those people." THR also asked Hernández what projects he wants to take on outside of SNL. In addition to his first Netflix special, releasing Jan. 7, he said he's also "excited about doing standup and hopefully doing some more acting. I'm writing, you know, trying to do the whole thing." But SNL fans don't need to worry about Hernández, who has become a fan-favorite, leaving the sketch comedy show anytime soon. He was also recently asked by E! News if he was planning to leave behind Domingo or any other of his iconic SNL characters in the near future. "I'm there. I'm there. I'm there," he replied, adding, "I'm having fun. It's a crazy job and you get to meet so many crazy people and I love it. I'm having fun."
