Nicole Eggert isn't afraid to speak publicly - and candidly - about her battle with cancer. In January 2024, the Baywatch alum revealed she was diagnosed with stage II cribriform carcinoma breast cancer the previous month. Eggert explained that she was performing a self-exam when she found a lump in her breast, but couldn't see a specialist at the time. "It really was throbbing and hurting," she told People at the time. "I immediately went to my general practitioner and she told me I had to immediately go get it looked at. But the problem was I just couldn't get an appointment. Everything was booked. So I had to wait until the end of November to get it done." A mammogram and three biopsies confirmed her diagnosis. She subsequently underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation. "It immediately made me realize, there's just no succumbing to this," Eggert told People in January 2024 of her illness. "This is something I have to get through. This is something that I have to beat. She needs me more than anything and anybody." Coping With Hair Loss Nicole Eggert revealed that she was starting to lose her hair amid treatment. "It's a week before my next treatment. I'm feeling really good [and] strong," she explained in a March 2024 Instagram video. "I feel normal as could be except that my hair's starting to fall out now. Just like little wispies keep falling out on my face, it's like if you have your bangs cut dry and all that fine hair falls in your eyes." One week later, Eggert shaved her head. How to Be There for Cancer Patients In a March 2024 exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Nicole Eggert shared her advice on how to talk to loved ones battling cancer. "To say to somebody by the fourth week, 'You're going to feel terrible,' or, 'By the second week this is going to happen to you.' It's just not true. So you shouldn't put those things," Eggert explained. "You really should just listen. I think it's a lot in life in general, right? Listening is better. Listening and saying, 'Good for you.' Giving affirmations and listening is probably the best bet." A Positive Update In a July 2024 Instagram video, Nicole Eggert revealed that her body had a "full complete response" to chemotherapy. "There's no detectable cancer in that area, and I have the green light to go ahead and schedule surgery," she said at the time. "This will be a mastectomy and reconstruction, and this will be a whole journey on its own, but it worked. It worked. It worked." The Waiting Game Nicole Eggert exclusively opened up to Us about how difficult it is to wait for her treatment results. "It's really weird because this is what's hard about the journey, is that [in] that moment was fantastic, but now this waiting period for the next step is very panicky," Eggert exclusively told Us. "I think that [the cancer's] back. In your mind, you're like, 'Oh, my, God. What did I just feel?' It's so much of the gray area that nobody really understands. That waiting and that unknown is really the true test." 'Feeling Good' Nearly one year after receiving her diagnosis, Nicole Eggert gave fans an update on how she was faring. "I'm feeling good. I'm gearing up to do radiation and then some surgeries and stuff like that," she told Us in December 2024. "But I feel good spiritually. I feel good physically. I feel good." Eggert also explained why she's been so public about her cancer journey on social media. "I think that I'm helping a lot of other people who don't talk about it and who aren't as open," she said. "They have a place to come and somebody to relate to that's going through the same things. It also gives everybody a platform to start chatting and talking about what they did and how their experience was. You really learn a lot that way too. I think every platform that we can have to talk about this disease is good." What's Next Nicole Eggert gave an update on her treatment process while appearing on a September 2025 episode of the "Pod Meets World" podcast. "I still have surgeries ahead of me next month that I'm excited about. I really took my time with that because I just didn't know what was the right route for me," she reflected. "There's just so many opinions and options, and I'm someone that needs to sleep on it, so I took a year to listen to everybody, digest it all. ... It's a big decision." The actress also candidly spoke about her experience undergoing chemo. "Chemo is a beast. And they threw the strongest ones at me. And once they do it, you can't do it again, so it's like, I need for this not only to be effective now, but how do I learn how I got here?" she said.
