Watch: Tatiana Schlossberg, Caroline Kennedy's Daughter, Dead at 35Maria Shriver is mourning her cousin Tatiana Schlossberg. After John F. Kennedy's granddaughter died Dec. 30 following her one-year battle with myeloid leukemia, Maria Shriver, a first cousin of the late United States president's daughter Caroline Kennedy, shared a heartfelt tribute. "I return to this space today to pay tribute to my sweet, beloved Tatiana, who left this earth today," Maria wrote in a Dec. 30 Instagram post alongside a photo of her late relative. "I return to this space to pay tribute and honor her loving and supportive family, who came together and did everything they possibly could do to help her. I return to this space heartbroken because Tatiana loved life. She loved her life, and she fought like hell to try to save it." Indeed, Maria-who shares Katherine Schwarzenegger, 36, Christina Schwarzenegger, 33, Patrick Schwarzenegger, 32, and Christopher Schwarzenegger, 28, with ex Arnold Schwarzenegger-noted that when it came to Tatiana's death at just 35, she "cannot make any sense of it at all. None. Zero."readA Kennedy Family Guide: Tatiana Schlossberg, Jack Schlossberg, Caroline Kennedy & MoreMaria went on to share love for Caroline, who is also mom to Rose Schlossberg, 37, and Jack Schlossberg, 32, with husband Edwin Schlossberg. "My heart has always been with my cousin Caroline ever since we were little kids," Maria continued. "My entire being is with her now. What a rock she has been." Meanwhile, the former First Lady of California pointed to the New Yorker essay Tatiana-mom to Edwin, 3, and Josephine, 19 months, with husband George Moran-published in the weeks leading up to her death, where she detailed that she had fought valiantly against her disease, undergoing chemotherapy and two bone marrow transplants, with stem cells donated by her sister Rose. Shutterstock"Whatever your faith, please pray for Tatiana and her grieving family," Maria emphasized. "Tatiana was the light, the humor, the joy. She was smart, wicked smart, as they say, and sassy. She was fun, funny loving, caring, a perfect daughter, sister, mother, cousin, niece, friend, all of it." For a look back at the Kennedy family over the years, keep reading... Born July 25, 1915, Joe Jr. was going to be president, as far as his father was concerned. He was a delegate to the 1940 Democratic National Convention and planned to run for Congress after he got out of the Navy. But the 29-year-old and his co-pilot Wilford John Willy were killed Aug. 12, 1944, when explosives they were carrying detonated prematurely while on a bombing run that was part of Operation Aphrodite. Neither pilot's body was ever recovered and their names are among those on the Tablets of the Missing at the Cambridge American Cemetery and Memorial honoring casualties of World War II.

He married Jacqueline Bouvier on Sept. 12, 1953, and they welcomed daughter Caroline Kennedy on Nov. 27, 1957, and son John F. Kennedy Jr. on Nov. 25, 1960. A daughter, Arabella, was stillborn in 1956 and son Patrick, born prematurely on Aug. 7, 1963, lived for only 39 hours. JFK was assassinated on Nov. 22, 1963, one of the defining events of the 20th century.
