(c) Michele Reiner/Instagram But according to sources close to the ongoing investigation who spoke with Rob Shuter for his Substack on Monday, Nick had allegedly entertained the idea of getting a firearm before the killings. That said, authorities have not confirmed whether he took any steps to actually acquire a weapon or if one was ever secured. He wasn't panicked - he was focused, and that's what makes it so disturbing." Jeez. So eerie. His alleged interest in a firearm is also raising more questions about the lead-up to the deaths, a source chimed in: "The concern isn't what he had - it's what he was thinking about in those final days." We wonder, if they can prove whether or not he obtained a gun or legitimately considered it, if this is enough to build a case that these deaths were premeditated? Hmm. For now, the Reiners' friends and neighbors are still reeling over the shocking and overwhelming tragedy. A source explained: "It's stunning. It still doesn't feel real. Nobody imagined this could happen." It's truly devastating. Nick dealt with mental health and addiction challenges since he was a teenager, and he was being treated for schizophrenia at the time of the killings. It sounds like things were difficult for a while, but nobody could imagine such a horrific ending for these parents and the entire family. It's heartbreaking.
