Spanish influencer Jorge García-Dihinx and his wife, Natalia Román, have died after getting caught in an avalanche while skiing. Three people including García-Dihinx and Román were killed in an avalanche in the Pyrenees, a mountain range between Spain and France, on Monday, December 29, outlets Heraldo de Aragón, ABC Aragon, and El País reported. García-Dihinx was 55. Román's age is unknown. According to Heraldo de Aragón, the avalanche was triggered by a broken slab of ice that was nearly 9,000 feet above sea level. Hundreds of acres were showered with dozens of feet of snow. García-Dihinx and Román had extensive skiing experience. The outlets reported that there were survivors from the natural disaster, with one woman who had hypothermia symptoms was airlifted from the scene. Two additional individuals were reportedly able to escape without harm. However, where the avalanche occurred, the danger on the European scale was three out of five, which is a significant risk. "Unfortunately, many people think that level 3 is an intermediate danger, when in reality the danger described is significant," Civil Guard's Mountain Service captain Fernando Rivero Diaz told the outlet on Monday. "Only with level 1 or 2 could we be relatively safe, but even then, we can't let our guard down." Us Weekly has reached out for comment. Earlier this month, García-Dihinx opened up about his enthusiasm for getting out on the slopes. "We go to the mountains for moments like these," he said in the Instagram clip. "At 3,000 meters, while the modern world remains below, up there, you're only focused on the next step - these are moments of absolute attention to the present moment." García-Dihinx's final social media post was an informational video about the elevated risks of enduring a heart attack or stroke on Christmas Eve.
