Chad Ollinger was so close to being released from prison... but that all just came crashing down. The reality TV star, who appeared in Discovery's Mystery At Blind Frog Ranch, has been charged with open murder after being accused of killing his cellmate at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas. According to a statement provided by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on Saturday, correctional officers were performing routine checks the day after Christmas when they observed "a male inmate lying motionless inside of a cell." According to the statement, the unnamed inmate was "suffering from apparent blunt force injuries," prompting quick action: "Officers immediately rendered aid to the victim and requested for CCDC medical personnel to respond but unfortunately, he was pronounced deceased at the scene." The victim's cellmate, who was identified as Ollinger, was taken into custody, and through investigation, "detectives learned a physical altercation occurred between the victim and Ollinger inside of the cell." So, the reality star was rebooked for open murder. Yeesh... According to records obtained by multiple outlets, Ollinger is scheduled to appear at a hearing for the open murder charge on Tuesday. The reason the 41-year-old was in jail in the first place stemmed from an incident on October 27, in which he was arrested. According to multiple outlets, Ollinger was hit with two charges by Nevada police that month: being a fugitive from another state, and contempt of court. His hearing for the first charge is scheduled for February 5, and while he was sentenced for the contempt of court charge on December 18, he was scheduled for release one January 12, according to online records. Prior to that, Ollinger was arrested in November 2024 for allegedly running a red light in front of an unmarked police vehicle. When police attempted to pull him over, he allegedly refused and briefly attempted to flee on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. According to TMZ, he ended up ditching his bike and attempting to flee on foot, but was ultimately caught and charged with evading arrest/detention with a vehicle and evading arrest/detention on foot. He said in a statement to TMZ at the time: "All I know is this one thing. It was a hell of a ride until I got off of that Harley crossbone." Ollinger is notably the son of Duane Ollinger, an oil and gas tycoon, who owns Blind Frog Ranch in east Utah. What are your reactions to this news?? Be sure to let us know in the comments down below.
