Influencer Melissa Mae Carlton is offering a "medical update" on her youngest daughter Molly's tragic and sudden death. "I hesitate to share a medical update already because we still don't have an official diagnosis, but I do feel it's important to let people know that we have some answers this time," Melissa wrote via Instagram on Saturday, December 27. "The doctors believe Molly had a genetic heart condition and suspect this may have been the case with Abi as well." Molly and her husband, Tom Carlton, announced via Instagram on Friday, December 26, that their daughter Molly had died. Their 9-year-old daughter, Abigail, previously died in April 2024. "I'm sharing this because I believe it could be critical information for families who have experienced SUDC (sudden unexpected death in children)," Melissa, who also shares kids Harry and Lily with her husband, wrote on Saturday. "This understanding came because Molly was able to be monitored in the hospital, which we were not able to do with Abi. I've never felt satisfied with the answers we were given for her." Influencer Melissa Mae Carlton's Daughter Dies 1 Year After Her Big Sister Melissa also claimed that, if Abi also had a cardiac condition, any minor illness could "potentially trigger a sudden cardiac event." Molly died on Christmas Day after a sudden hospitalization for an undisclosed issue. "That morning, we witnessed many small miracles. Paramedics were stationed just three minutes away and arrived quickly," Melissa recalled on Saturday of Molly's death. "The pediatric trauma center was only fifteen minutes from where we were. We were in the best possible place, with everything aligned for the best conditions and the best outcome. Her little body fought so hard, but we've been told that this type of cardiac event is, in most cases, not survivable." The influencer continued, "I hope we will get more answers soon and will be doing more genetic investigation for our family now we have possibly a clearer avenue to explore." As Melissa and Tom grieved their youngest child, they took a step back from creating social media content. Influencer Melissa Mae Carlton's Family Guide: Meet Husband and 4 Kids "I have not been very active on here lately because, truthfully, I've been in a very heavy place with my grief and have been feeling uninspired," Melissa explained on Saturday. "The reason I shared our situation is because I believe in the power of prayer. We were on our way to the hospital, and at that point we thought she was already gone. And yet, I still believed God could grant a miracle if it was His will. I held onto that faith right to the very end." Melissa further thanked her online community for their support. "We are absolutely overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and prayers we have received. It's hard to even comprehend," she said. "I'm not sure it's physically possible to get back to every message but from the bottom of our hearts, thank you. ... We are grateful for every single one of you." Melissa has often used her social media posts to shine a light on her grief journey following Abi's death last year. "I wish I could always be the strong, inspirational one on your feed, but I can't. The truth is, it really, really sucks," she wrote via Instagram last month. "I still can't believe this happened. I still can't believe she's gone."
