The final weekend of 2025 on Netflix is all about Stranger Things season 5, volume 2, and that's a pretty big note to go out on. Fortunately, Netflix isn't leaving fans wanting for other shows to watch in the final days of the year. Our picks include a former Prime Video original series, a cop drama from TNT and one of the last scripted shows that MTV produced. 5 Best New Shows to Watch This Weekend on Netflix, More (December 26-28) 'Hunters' (2020 - 2023) Hunters was a high-profile Amazon Prime Video original series half a decade ago, in part because it was produced by Jordan Peele and featured Al Pacino in a leading role. This series takes place in an alternate timeline version of the '70s, where a group of unsanctioned Nazi hunters is searching for German war criminals as they attempt to restart the movement in America. Jonah Heidelbaum (Logan Lerman) is drawn into the team of Hunters as he slowly discovers his personal ties to them. What the Hunters don't realize is that they are also the hunted and marked for death by their enemies. The Colonel (Lena Olin) has emerged as the figurehead of a new Fourth Reich, and her real name may be familiar to anyone who cracked open a history book. And the story gets even wilder in the second season. Hunters is streaming on Netflix. 'The Closer' (2005 - 2012) The Closer was a big hit on TNT two decades ago, and it even spawned a successful spinoff series, Major Crimes. For now, only the former is on Netflix, and The Closer has already cracked the streamer's top 10 shows. It's not hard to see why, as this police procedural had a very strong cast that was headlined by Kyra Sedgwick's Brenda Leigh Johnson. 26 Best Shows on Netflix Right Now (December 2025): 'The Closer' and More Brenda was trained by the CIA before she became a detective, and her interrogation skills led to her nickname as "the Closer." She's got a reputation for being able to secure confessions from suspects, but she and her team have to catch them first. J. K. Simmons has a costarring role on the series as Brenda's boss, LAPD Assistant Chief Will Pope. But he's not always able to keep her under control. Brenda does things her way, and it usually gets results. However, Brenda's methods come under greater scrutiny later in the series as the show ramps up the pressure on her. The Closer is streaming on Netflix. 'Teen Wolf' (2011 - 2017) You may notice some Buffy the Vampire Slayer vibes from this reboot of the 1985 Michael J. Fox comedy Teen Wolf. This show takes itself seriously, and it slowly developed its own mythology during its six-season run on MTV. Tyler Posey stars as Scott McCall, an ordinary teenager whose run-in with a werewolf leaves him changed forever. As Scott grows into his powers, he leans on his best friend, Stiles Stilinski (Dylan O'Brien), for support as their hometown, Beacon Hills, is overcome by supernatural activity. Scott is also mentored by Derek Hale (Tyler Hoechlin), an older werewolf whom he initially distrusts. Both Scott and Derick are also pursued by werewolf hunters and are unaware that Scott's new girlfriend, Allison Argent (Crystal Reed), has been raised to be a part of the family business.
