Brooke Hogan released a new song about her late father Hulk Hogan, revealing she is still wrestling with his death. In a music video for the ballad "Wanna Go Back," released on Thursday, December 18, a slideshow of photos showed Brooke, 37, and Hulk from before his death in July at the age of 71. "Tell me you loved me, really / Could you find me in my dreams?" Brooke sings. "All the lying, letters, lines I'm trying to read / Guess it's not what it seemed." Brooke and Hulk were estranged for years before his death, the result of cardiac arrest. "Daddy you lying there made a fool out of me / I don't wanna go back because you were my world and I was your girl, but that meant nothing / I don't wanna go back." Brooke continues, "Hug me, protect me, trust me, that's all a girl needs / But you pushed me away and I said OK / If that's what you wanted, then all I can say / I don't wanna go back, can't believe it was me / That you did me so wrong, made a fool out of me." As the song comes to a close, Brooke hints at the complex range of emotions she's felt since her father's death. "I don't wanna go back because you were my world and I was your girl / But daddy, come back," she sings. Given Brooke's estrangement from her father at the time of his death - which she explained in depth in a March Instagram post - some have accused Brooke of attempting to cash in on Hulk's legacy. Brooke addressed some early pushback the song faced via Instagram, including one person who said in the comments section, "So u haven't talked to him in years but unfortunately when he passes away u wanna do tributes I mean that's sad stuff." In response, Brooke wrote, "Sometimes when people pass you find out things that hurt even more. That's what this song is about." Brooke found an enthusiastic supporter in her husband, former NHL player Steven Oleksy, who praised the song on social media. "This song is so deep," Oleksy, 39, wrote via his Instagram Story on Thursday. "I am so blessed to call you my wife. Your strength could never be measured. I love you!" Brooke and Oleksy got married in June 2022 and welcomed twins, Oliver and Molly, in January. "I look at my daughter and I think I can't imagine telling her anything other than she's just beautiful and wonderful and just encouraging her and letting her shine and go whatever path she wants to go in life and support her in that," Brooke said. "I look at my son and I hope he ends up like his daddy because he's such a stand up man and kind and gentle and has a conscience and always does the right thing and always takes the high road."
