As we head into the final weeks of 2025, you should know that the fresh viewing options on Netflix will be a lot drier than usual. Even the No. 1 streamer in the world has to slow down at some point. But Netflix also benefits by adding original series from both Hulu and AMC+, as it did this week. Watch With Us has selected our picks for the three new Netflix shows I can't wait to watch this weekend. Two of our choices are unseasonal horror stories, although one is scarier than the other. The remaining show is an animated adventure based on a world-famous video game character. 'Welcome to Derry' Is a Big Hit, But This Netflix Show Is Just as Good 'Castle Rock' (2018 - 2019) Stephen King sure has a way of making a small town in Maine into the most terrifying place in America. You may not want to live in Castle Rock, but the Castle Rock series brings together threads from King's earlier stories in a fascinating way. It: Welcome to Derry star Bill Skarsgård headlines the first season as The Kid, an unnamed prisoner who is the only inmate at Shawshank State Penitentiary without a record of his captivity or any clue about why he's a prisoner there. Henry Matthew Deaver (André Holland) is an attorney who left Castle Rock under a cloud of suspicion, but he returns when The Kid requests his aid by name. After Henry unravels the mysteries of season 1, the second season shifts its focus to Annie Wilkes (Lizzy Caplan), the killer nurse from Misery. Annie's a lot younger on this show, but just as mentally ill and unable to avoid the dark fate she makes for herself. Because Castle Rock is an anthology show, it could potentially return for a new season in the future if demand on Netflix proves to be high enough. Castle Rock is streaming on Netflix. 'Tomb Raider: Lara Croft' (2024 - Present) Hayley Atwell would have been a fantastic choice to play Lara Croft in live-action. Since that didn't happen, we'll have to settle for Atwell lending her voice to Lara for the animated series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft. This series is set when Lara was still a young woman and not yet the fierce archaeologist that she was in the original video games. 26 Must-Watch Drama Shows on Netflix Right Now (December 2025) Season 2 picks up with Lara as she is finally reunited with her best friend, Sam Nishimura (Karen Fukuhara), following a cliffhanger ending from season 1. Lara also meets an enigmatic woman named Mila (Tricia Helfer) who wants to save the world with supernatural artifacts. Except that Mila's definition of "saving" the planet clashes with Lara's. To prevent a global catastrophe, Lara teams up with Sam as they try to stop Mila from unleashing a power that could devastate the world as we know it. Tomb Raider: Lara Croft is streaming on Netflix. 'Mayfair Witches' (2023 - Present) Mayfair Witches shares continuity with AMC's Interview with the Vampire, but crossovers and vampires are rare on this show. Instead, the focus falls on the titular Mayfair witches, led by Rowan Fielding (Alexandra Daddario). Rowan grew up believing she was just as normal as anyone else, but she may be the most powerful witch that their line has ever produced. Her very existence was due to the manipulation of Lasher (Jack Huston), a supernatural entity who has plagued the family for generations. Season 2 finds Lasher reborn as Rowan's son, and she desperately tries to raise him without letting darkness claim his soul. That's like wrestling the ocean with her bare hands, especially since Lasher rapidly ages into adulthood. To make things even more difficult, Rowan's grandfather, Julian Mayfair (Ted Levine), is challenging her control of the family, and there may be a civil war in their future. Mayfair Witches is streaming on Netflix.
