Rob and Michele Reiner's closest friends are all coming together to support their children during this unimaginable time. As we've been covering, the beloved Hollywood couple was found murdered in their Brentwood home on Sunday. Their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, has since been charged with both murders and faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. He may even face the death penalty, though the Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman has not made a final decision on whether they'll push for it. However, it is an option on the table at this point. The iconic filmmaker also had an adopted daughter, Tracy Reiner, 61, whom he shared with late actress/director Penny Marshall. Fortunately, Rob and Michele's pals, including Billy Crystal and Albert Brooks, are all rallying to protect them as they mourn. A source told People on Thursday: "Rob and Michele were beloved in Hollywood and their friends like Billy Crystal and Albert Brooks are truly like family and fiercely protective." The insider said Jake and Romy "will never be alone as they try to face this." Good. We're glad the two have a support system around them because they'll need it. What happened to their parents is a lot for anyone to process. We can't even imagine what Romy, especially, is going through at this time, after having been the one to discover them. If you don't know, Rob and Michele's massage therapist reportedly arrived at their home for a scheduled appointment that Sunday, but they couldn't get in through the gate or get in touch with the pair. They ended up calling Romy, who, a New York Times source said, arrived at the residence with a roommate. Romy went inside to check on her parents and discovered her father's body. She ran out and had no idea her mom had also died. A paramedic later told her. However, what she saw is most likely traumatizing enough. Both Rob and Michele's throats were reportedly slit, and they were stabbed. TMZ sources claimed their bodies looked as if they were "butchered" by a "mad man." Jeez. So, between Romy seeing the grisly scene and finding out their own brother allegedly killed their parents, we can imagine it has been difficult to handle. However, they've been remaining "strong" with the help of Rob and Michele's pals. The People source continued: "They are being incredibly strong and have a huge support system they can lean on. It's of course been a huge shock to the system. This nightmare came out of nowhere for them, but they've been surrounded with support since the second they found out."
