Will Arnett and Amy Poehler are no longer married - but together they're making history as two of the six 2026 Golden Globe nominees in the all-new Best Podcast category. While Arnett, 55, was still reeling after learning about his nomination on December 8 for the "Smartless" podcast alongside cohosts Sean Hayes and Jason Bateman, he revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that Poehler, 54, had already sent him a message of support. "Congrats. Let's party," Poehler's text to Arnett and Hayes, 55, read, according to the outlet's profile on Arnett published on Wednesday, December 17. (Poehler is nominated for her "Good Hang" podcast. Other nominees include: "Armchair Expert," "Call Her Daddy," "The Mel Robbins Podcast" and "Up First.") As Arnett read the message aloud, he let out a howl, noting there was a reason Poehler didn't include Bateman, 56, on the thread. "I don't have Bateman's number, but that's for the best," she explained. The pair finalized their divorce in 2016 and continue to coparent their two sons, Archie, 17, and Abel, 15. Arnett opened up about the "excruciating" divorce from Poehler in February 2022, telling The Guardian it was "just brutal, brutal, brutal." He recalled having to go back to work on Netflix's Arrested Development amid the breakup, which didn't help the situation. "I was driving to the set one day and I pulled over to the side of the road and cried for an hour," Arnett revealed. Amy Poehler and Will Arnett: The Way They Were Despite the rocky period in their lives, Arnett said he and Poehler had learned to successfully navigate coparenting their sons. "It's been almost 10 years and my kids are so lucky that Amy is their mother," Arnett said. "And I'm so lucky that we're such a huge part of each other's lives, even more so than we were five years ago." In the years that followed, Arnett and Poehler both moved on romantically as well. Arnett dated Alessandra Brawn for five years before they split in 2024. (The exes share a 5-year-old son.) He is currently dating model Carolyn Murphy. Arnett and Poehler have also continued to support each other's careers, including their respective podcasts. "So you're doing a podcast, huh? That is awesome," Arnett said in a teaser video for Poehler's podcast in February. He opted out of giving his ex-wife advice for her new gig, instead, joking, "Would you happen to know my blood type? I'm gonna put it down in this form." Poehler then surprised Arnett in April by coming in as a guest on his podcast at the request of his cohosts. "I usually give something five years until I try it." During the April "Smartless" episode, the exes covered a variety of topics, with Arnett gushing most about Poehler as a mom. "I'm really proud of it," he said of their coparenting dynamic. "Of course, things take a minute because everybody is sort of adjusting to what it is. I'm also very proud of, certainly as parents, what we've been able to do." Arnett explained that even after their divorce, he considers Poehler one of his best sounding boards. "She is somebody that I still run a lot of stuff by. ... She's the person that I go like, 'Hey, I'm thinking about doing this,'" he said. "Whether it's life or work and I really seek her counsel because it's important to me because I trust her. She's awesome." The 2026 Golden Globes will air on CBS and Paramount+ on January 11, 2026.
