Ryan Lochte is addressing his shady comments about his estranged wife, Kayla Lochte! Last week, the swimmer announced on Instagram that he plans to write a tell-all book about his life, including the Rio scandal at the 2016 Summer Games, in which he lied about being robbed at gunpoint. However, it also sounds like he plans to throw a ton of shade at his ex-wife! He said: "After the Rio scandal, I found myself at my lowest point, with a son on the way with someone I barely knew, who constantly reminded me that he would be forever disappointed in the father I had become. Someone who told me I wasn't strong enough, man enough... just not enough. I couldn't believe what my life had become. I really couldn't. I was depressed to my core, turning to alcohol, drugs, and sleep. Oh, the amount of sleep. Every day, I woke up to be belittled and reminded of my constant failures, day in and day out, until I was eventually kicked out of our family home." She shared a video of Ryan's emotional wedding vows, praising her for having his back amid the Rio controversy. Well, Ryan now has a few things he would like to "clarify" after the video! He took to Instagram on Thursday to say he never meant to "hurt anyone" with the post, especially Kayla: "I am writing this bc I am too emotional to speak through this. Navigating personal challenges in public can be incredibly tough, and I am thankful the opportunity to clarify my recent post about my ex-wife. I understand that my words have sparked a lot of backlash, and I want to express that my intention was never to hurt anyone but to share my feelings." Despite the wedding video, Ryan stands by what he said. At least the part where they didn't really "know each other" during their relationship: "There's a lot happening behind the scenes that I've chosen to keep private to protect my kids. I recognize that Kayla has shared our wedding vows on her page to highlight the authenticity of what we once had. While I respect that, I still stand by my belief that we didn't fully know each other, and honestly, I didn't know myself or who I was. I am very thankful for our three children and the love we shared at that time." Hmm. Ryan will admit that he really didn't help matters, though. As the Olympian put it, he was not "a good husband" to Kayla: "Therapy has been a transformative journey for me, helping me uncover insights about myself that I previously overlooked. I'm making a tremendous effort to separate myself from the past, as I've truly moved on. I deeply regret any disappointment I've caused to those in my life, including the mother of my children. I would be lying if I said I was a good husband, I wasn't. I'm committed to working on myself every day." At least he can own up to his own faults. Ryan concluded: "I ask for your understanding and grace as I navigate this complex situation. Moving forward, I will continue to share my life with you but will refrain from discussing matters pertaining to my previous marriage. Thank you all for your support." So, does that mean he won't talk about Kayla in the book? He's just going to leave out all their marital issues, alleged cheating, and divorce drama? That's a bit disappointing if fans wanted tea on what went wrong!
