Los Angeles police reportedly showed up at Nick Reiner's hotel room in hopes of gathering additional evidence. According to TMZ, an LAPD robbery-homicide detective arrived at The Pierside Santa Monica hotel in the early morning hours of Monday, December 15, and told the front desk clerk he was there to investigate Nick's room. The detective was concerned Nick may have disposed of a weapon connected to a violent crime, TMZ claimed. Hotel staff took the detective up to Nick's room to search the area for a weapon, blood and other possible evidence. Nick's parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, were found stabbed to death at their home in Brentwood, California, on Sunday afternoon. (The property is located less than five miles away from The Pierside Santa Monica hotel.) One day later, news broke that Nick was arrested on a murder charge. Police later released a statement revealing the 32-year-old was taken into custody on Sunday evening around 9:15 p.m. local time. Mega Agency On Tuesday, December 16, Los Angeles district attorney Nathan Hochman announced in a press conference that Nick has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He is facing life in prison without parole or the death penalty. Powerhouse attorney Alan Jackson, known for defending Karen Read, has been hired to defend him in court. Although Nick was seen in court for the first time on Wednesday, December 17, he did not enter a plea. Jackson told the court that it was "too early" to do so. Nick's arraignment was continued until January 7, 2026.
