We are still reeling days after the murders of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner - allegedly at the hands of their own son Nick Reiner, according to cops in Los Angeles. And now one of Rob's most famous collaborators, Corey Feldman, is speaking out about the moment the news broke and the chilling instinct he says hit him immediately. Feldman, who starred in Stand By Me under Reiner's direction, appeared on The Rob Reiner Story: A Hollywood Tragedy, which was an ABC News special airing this week as a somber retrospective meant to honor Rob's extraordinary legacy. And it also became a space for Feldman to reflect on the horror of losing someone he considered a friend and mentor. He claimed: "As we watched the news unfold, I was actually the first one who said, 'I think it was his son.' It's awful. It's the worst thing I could imagine. ... Accepting that fact that this could have happened in his home from his own son, it sent shivers and chills down all of us." Those words are difficult to read, let alone imagine thinking in real time. Feldman later explained the idea felt so wrong that his immediate reaction was disbelief mixed with heartbreak, and a refusal to accept that such violence could strike so close to someone he admired: "All I could think is, 'Oh my God, there's no way this could have happened to my friend.'" Nick Reiner has since been arrested and charged with the murders of his parents, as we've been reporting - a legal reality that makes Feldman's early suspicion all the more haunting. And as for Feldman, who has long been open about his own struggles with addiction, he also offered insight into why he believes Nick's personal battles may have played a role in the family's tragic unraveling. Speaking candidly, Feldman framed addiction not as an excuse, but as a deeply misunderstood force that can erode relationships and judgment over time: "When you grow up living around drug addiction and alcoholism, it's a lot easier to accept it and process it when it comes to your own family. When we don't understand the plight of our friends and family, and we don't understand what a slippery slope addiction is, it's hard to have empathy for it." Rob Reiner was 78 and Michele was 68 when they were found dead on Sunday afternoon, a discovery reportedly made by their daughter Romy, who warned police that her brother was dangerous. By Sunday night, Nick had been arrested. And by Monday, the Los Angeles District Attorney announced two counts of first-degree murder - charges that carry the possibility of life in prison without parole or even the death penalty. In the days since, grief has poured out from across Hollywood. Feldman himself joined the chorus of tributes on social media, mourning the loss of a man who helped shape his career and his life: View this post on Instagram A post shared by Corey Feldman (@cdogg22) Our hearts continue to break...
