Nick Reiner's legal team is ready to go to battle. On Wednesday, Nick appeared in court for the first time after his arrest for allegedly murdering his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner. They were discovered stabbed to death in their Brentwood home on Sunday. Ultimately, his arraignment was pushed back to January 7, and Nick made a simple three-word statement to the judge confirming he was okay with that, stating, "Yes, your honor." He was wearing a blue suicide-prevention smock for the hearing (after reportedly being in suicide watch in custody and missing yesterday's hearing attempt because he wasn't "medically cleared"). See HERE. After the hearing, his powerhouse attorney Alan Jackson - famous for helping get Karen Read acquitted - told reporters: "First of all, and most importantly, this is a devastating tragedy that has befallen the Reiner family. We all recognize that. Our hearts go out to the entire Reiner family." He then made a bold statement about the case, saying pointedly: "There are very, very complex and serious issues that are associated with this case. These need to be thoroughly but very carefully dealt with and examined and looked at and analyzed." Hmm. Sounds like they are preparing for a big fight! We wonder what their argument will be?? For now, Alan is asking folks to be patient and not speculate: "We ask that during this process, you allow the system to move forward in the way that it was designed to move forward. Not with the rush to judgment, not with jumping to conclusions, but with restraint and with dignity and with the respect that this system and this process deserves and that the family deserves." He concluded: "So with that, we are set for January 7 for an arraignment. That's the next court date, and that's all I have to say at this point. There may be more at some other point, but today we're going to rest on where we stand procedurally." There's a lot more to come as this case develops, that's for sure...
