Brandy and Ray J's mom, Sonja Norwood, backed up her son in his court battle against his ex Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner, Us Weekly can exclusively report. On December 12, Norwood, 75, filed a declaration supporting Ray J's efforts to convince a Los Angeles judge to toss the defamation lawsuit brought by Kardashian, 45, and Jenner, 70. Norwood wrote, "In or around 2008, I discovered that Kim Kardashian and her siblings, Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, and Robert Kardashian Jr., had incurred around $850,000 in unauthorized charges maintained by members of my family." In the filing, Norwood explained that she sued the Kardashian siblings. "Before I filed suit, I told my son, [Ray J], about the Kardashian siblings' theft." "Unable to accept the end of his fleeting relationship with [Kim] over twenty years ago, Ray J has repeatedly sought to attach himself to [Kim and Kris'] names and exploit their prominence for personal gain," the lawsuit alleged. Kim and Jenner pointed out that on September 24, 2025, Ray J "escalated his attacks during a social-media livestream broadcast to millions, declaring: 'The federal RICO I'm about to drop on Kris and Kim is about to be crazy' and that 'the feds is coming.'" Kim and Jenner said Ray J "then announced to the millions of viewers that the racketeering case against [Kim and Jenner] would be 'worse than Diddy,' referring to the highly publicized federal RICO charges against Sean 'Diddy' Combs for heinous allegations of sex trafficking and violent abuse of women." "Ray J's public statements are blatantly false. No such federal investigation exists; no law enforcement agency has initiated any criminal proceedings or investigations related to racketeering charges against [Kim] or Ms. Jenner; and no credible evidence whatsoever supports these inflammatory allegations," Kim and Jenner's lawsuit stated. Ray J Addresses Diddy's 'Unfortunate' Trafficking, Racketeering Arrest In response, Ray J filed a counterclaim against Kim and Jenner over his infamous 2006 sex tape with Kim. He denied the claims that he leaked it. He accused Kim and Jenner of having worked out the deal with the adult film company Vivid, despite their claims that they had nothing to do with it. He claimed they lied about the details of the sex tape for years. He said he reached a private settlement with Kim in 2023 over the sex tape, which barred her from speaking about the tape. He said they breached the deal by talking about the tape on their Hulu reality show, The Kardashians. He accused Kim and Jenner of defrauding him with their actions. Ray J added, "I don't want my children to grow up being exposed to a false and damaging portrayal of their father as a pornographic figure rather than a parent, professional, and human being." In the docs, Ray J also admitted to using ChatGPT to help him with the lawsuit, claiming it "entrenched" his beliefs. A judge has yet to rule on the matter.
