Being Charlie stuntman Erik Audé is offering insight into late director Rob Reiner's relationship with his son Nick Reiner. Audé, 45, claimed during a recent interview with Page Six that the father and son were "going off on each other" while making the 2015 film. He alleged that there was a noticeable "tension" on set between the pair. "You could tell [Nick] was spoiled and Rob was just sick of his s***," Audé claimed in the article, published on Monday, December 15. "I just assumed, whether this is correct or not, this kid must be pushing all his buttons." Audé recalled it seeming like Rob couldn't "do anything right" before critiquing Nick's behavior. What Rob Reiner's Son Nick Said About Addiction, Their Complex Relationship "He's a nepo-baby, a spoiled kid to the tee," the stunt performer continued. "Obviously, [Rob] loved his son because he's doing this movie for his son, and still, his son was unappreciative." Rob and Nick previously admitted during a 2016 appearance on the "2 Chairs and a Microphone" podcast that there was some tension between them on the set of Being Charlie, which starred Cary Elwes and Nick Robinson. Rob directed the movie, a semiautobiographical story written by Nick about his struggles with addiction and homelessness. Audé said that the father-son duo made up with a "kiss on the lips" after their explosive fight, noting that there was definitely "hostility" between the two men. "Families fight, but they do it in the privacy of their own home," he added. "People have a way of filtering themselves around other people. They didn't." News broke on Sunday, December 14, that Rob and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, had died at ages 78 and 68, respectively. Us confirmed on Monday that Nick was arrested in connection with their deaths. He is currently being held without bail. A source told Us Nick was seen at Conan O'Brien's Christmas party alongside his parents on Saturday, December 13, and allegedly acted "creepily" toward some guests. "Nick was going up to people at Conan O'Brien's party asking if they were famous," the source recalled. (Multiple outlets have since reported that Nick and Rob got into a loud argument while at the party.) Rob Reiner Family Guide: Wife Michele and 4 Kids, Including Tracy and Nick Separate sources offered Us insight into Nick's relationship with his parents following his arrest. "Nick's problems have been going on for so long, so while everyone is in a state of shock right now, it's not entirely surprising," insiders shared, noting that he has "always been hostile and volatile" toward his family. "A lot of his anger was directed at his parents for many, many years," the source continued. "They did everything a parent could possibly do to help him. Even in his younger years, they really tried to get him help. And then it became a cycle of seeking treatment for him, kicking him out, or him leaving the house, him moving back in." Nick also experienced tensions with his siblings. Rob and Michele, who wed in 1989, shared son Jake and daughter Romy. Rob previously adopted eldest daughter Tracy during his marriage to the late Penny Marshall. "It's been so much of their life. Rob and Michele were honest about their struggles with Nick, and those who spent time with the family saw it firsthand," one insider shared. "Everyone who knew them and loved them is struggling right now, because it was never a secret."
