In its first two performances, the play brought in $409,041 and played to 100 percent capacity, setting up the show for a high-grossing Broadway run (as it had last year). The show features a rotating cast throughout its run, with upcoming cast members including Ben Schwartz, Mike Birbiglia and Heidi Gardner. The band Lawrence plays songs as part of the show. The play, which opened on Broadway in 2018, has seen a big jump in grosses after Tom Felton, who played Draco in the original Harry Potter movies, joined the show in November. Capacity remained at 100 percent at the Lyric Theatre, while the average ticket price slid up to $230. However, as reported by the Broadway Journal, the box office tallies from Felton's run are expected to be used to offset losses and build financial reserves (rather than make distributions to investors), given the high running costs of the show and prior sales dips. Hamilton was the next highest grossing with $2.8 million, followed by Wicked with $2.76 million, The Lion King with $2.4 million and Mamma Mia with $1.9 million. Chess saw its grosses slide slightly as lead Lea Michele had a scheduled absence Sunday. Grosses fell $68,000 to $1.89 million last week's $1.95 million. Attendance, however, jumped up to 97 percent capacity from 92 percent as the average ticket price dropped to $168 from $183.
