Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Buena Vista Pictures Or you can go in blind! To each their own. 1. The movie follows the Coleman family, specifically Anna (Lindsay Lohan) and Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) who have a "complex relationship" (which, tbh, actually isn't all that complex, it's very typical of a mom and a hormonal teenager). Buena Vista Pictures Anna is your typical angsty, punk rock, type-B, early 2000s teenager and Tess is your typical, uptight, cookie cutter, type-A, early 2000s mother of a teenager. 2. Anna's love interest is Jake (Chad Michael Murray): Buena Vista Pictures A certified heartthrob. AND he drives a motorcycle. 3. Anna's No. 1 opp is Stacy (Julie Gonzalo): Buena Vista Pictures Who you may recognize from A Cinderella Story. I wonder if CMM and Julie talked bout Freaky Friday on that set... 4. Anna's no. 2 opp is Mr. Ross (Stephen Tobolowsky): Buena Vista Pictures Why, you may ask? Because Tess rejected him when they were in high school and now he's taking it out on Anna...it's giving Snape vs. Harry Potter. 5. Anna is in a band called Pink Slip: Buena Vista Pictures Remember? Anna is a punk rocker! She plays her dad's old guitar in her mom's garage. Honestly, Tess doesn't have any opps, but if she did, it would be Pink Slip, which is sad, 'cause they're actually really good. "Take Me Away" went triple platinum in my household growing up. 6. Tess' love interest / fiance is Jake (Mark Harmon): Buena Vista Pictures Between Chad Michael Murray and Mark Harmon, we are being FED in this film, girls and gays! 7. Tess is a therapist and a published author: Buena Vista Pictures I don't think any amount of therapy could prepare any parent/child to switch bodies for a day. 8. The main conflict of the film is neither Anna nor Tess puts themselves in the other's shoes, so Pei-Pei's (the manager of the Chinese restaurant they frequent) mother decides to teach them a lesson via fortune cookie... Buena Vista Pictures Living for the drama. 9. ...and that lesson is living one day (a FRIDAY) in each other's bodies to see how the other one lives: Buena Vista Pictures "Oh, I'm the crypt keeper!" Iconic line. 10. Jake was initially into Anna (when she was in her own body), but kinda falls off of her when he sees her sabotaging Stacy's test (when Tess is in her body)... Buena Vista Pictures Don't let the long hair and motorcycle fool you, folks! He's a pure soul. 11. ...which leaves room for him to fall for Tess (when Anna is in her body) after seeing her let loose on TV / talk about cool bands that Jake and the real Anna have in common: Buena Vista Pictures A way to a man's heart is through his iTunes library, apparently. 12. In defense of Jake's crush, Tess (while Anna is in her body) does connect / ~flirt~ with him: Buena Vista Pictures So, I can see why he'd see her as a MILF...little does he know, he's ACTUALLY connecting on a deeper level with Anna! 13. Funnily enough, the song that Jake and Tess (while Anna is in her body) bond over is "...

Baby, One More Time" by Britney Spears. Buena Vista Pictures Chad Michael Murray singing Britney Spears off-key is one of my favorite moments in this movie. 14. Let us not forget one of the most iconic scenes in cinematic history -Tess (as Anna) filling in for Anna (as Tess) on stage at the Wango Tango audition (AKA, selfless deed No.1): Buena Vista Pictures If Pink Slip doesn't have a record deal in Freakier Friday, imma riot. 15. Selfless deed no. 2: Anna (as Tess) told Tess (as Anna) to postpone her wedding to Ryan because she thought it was the right thing to do but, instead, Tess (as Anna) gives a moving speech to welcome Ryan into their family: Buena Vista Pictures AND THE CURSE WAS LIFTED! 16. Everyone is back in their bodies after a very eventful Friday, which allows for Tess (in her OWN body) and Ryan to get married on Saturday: Buena Vista Pictures Jamie Lee Curtis is a lucky woman... 17. And Anna and Jake become a couple, too! Buena Vista Pictures Lindsay Lohan is also a lucky woman... 18. Pei-Pei's mom ATTEMPTS to hit Harry and Grandpa Coleman with the fortune cookie switcheroo, but Pei-Pei is there to save the day. Buena Vista Pictures The actual sequel we need, but not the sequel we deserve. 19. Lastly, "Ultimate" is just as good as "Take Me Away": Buena Vista Pictures Dare I say, it may even be a lil be
