Jordan Firstman found himself in big trouble with the fans and stars of Heated Rivalry! It all started when Vulture published a new interview with the I Love LA star on Thursday, in which he criticized the sex scenes of the hit new queer hockey romance series. The HBO Max/Crave show is based on Rachel Reid's Game Changers book series about closeted professional hockey players and rivals, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, who have a secret years-long romance. It's created, written, and directed by Jacob Tierney, who is openly gay. Jordan, who is also gay, thinks all the love scenes are inauthentic, though: "I'm sorry, I watched those first two episodes of Heated Rivalry and it's just not gay. It's not how gay people f**k. There's so few things that actually show gay sex." Of course, there's no one way to have gay sex! Everyone's experience is different! When the journalist brought up that his 2023 movie Rotting in the Sun is "probably the best gay movie of the decade in terms of feeling honest about what gay life is like," Jordan fired back that people don't want to see authentic depictions of queer love and instead turn to shows like Heated Rivalry: "But they want to see Heated Rivalry. I go to art to be confronted and to think, but a lot of people just want entertainment or to see two straight hockey players pretending to be gay and f**king." To which the actor responded, slamming the two for not revealing their sexualities: "Then you know what? I am one of those bitches who says, 'Then say it.' A gay guy would say it. I don't respect you because you care too much about your career and what's going to happen if people think you're gay." His remarks quickly sparked backlash online, including from Heated Rivalry star François Arnaud. The Schitt's Creek alum, who is bisexual, clapped back in an Instagram comment on Friday, saying: "Is there only one way to have 'authentic' gay sex on TV? Should the sex that closeted hockey players have look like the sex that sceney LA gay guys have?" Hudson re-posted his co-star's comments but added a light-hearted suggestion: "But truly go watch I Love LA! Jordan and the cast are great!!" He's not wrong! I Love LA is funny as s**t! Check out the post (below): (c) Hudson Williams/Instagram Following the controversy, Jordan took to Instagram Stories to react - showing he clearly reflected on it all and has a changed tune now! He said: "I love Heated Rivalry and ultimately I'm a f***** who can't shut the f**k up but I'm gunna get better at that." He then posted a screenshot of a user calling him "ugly and fat" regarding a photo of himself shirtless with a towel around his waist. Jordan hit back: "Not sure I deserve thousands of these messages but hey I do agree some days!" Don't agree, Jordan! You're always hot! Look, you may not agree with Jordan's initial comments, but take it from us - there is no need to stoop to that level. Reactions, Perezcious readers? Sound OFF in the comments!
