Jackson on Tuesday confirmed to the assembled media while walking into a Dec. 16 hearing before the L.A. District Attorney that he was representing Nick Reiner. He added Rob Reiner's son did not attend his scheduled arraignment hearing as he had not yet been medically cleared to be transported to the courthouse. Los Angeles-based Jackson recently secured an acquittal for Karen Read for second-degree murder and manslaughter charges during a retrial and has also represented Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey in their own sexual assault trials. As a former assistant head deputy for the major crimes division in the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Jackson secured a murder conviction for music icon Phil Spector. The Los Angeles Police Department on Monday claimed Nick Reiner was responsible for the homicide death of his parents. "As a result of the initial investigation, it was determined that the Reiners were the victims of homicide," the LAPD said in a press release. "The investigation further revealed that Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of Robert and Michele Reiner, was responsible for their deaths." Iconic filmmaker Rob Reiner, 78, and wife Michele, 70, were found dead in their L.A. home on Chadbourne Avenue. The couple suffered "lacerations consistent with a knife," law enforcement sources told TMZ. There reportedly was no sign of forced entry. Nick Reiner was early on reported as a suspect. He battled drug addiction and homelessness, had more than a dozen stints in rehab and co-wrote a film loosely based on his life, Being Charlie (2015), that was directed by his father. The Hollywood Reporter reached out to Jackson's legal firm, Werksman, Jackson & Quinn LLP, for additional comment over Jackson representing Nick Reiner.
