Nick Reiner was a "ticking time bomb" prior to fatally stabbing his parents. In the wake of Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner's son being arrested and charged with their murders on Sunday, we're hearing more about just how volatile the 32-year-old could get. On Monday, a source told the DailyMail.com the When Harry Met Sally director and his wife allowed their son to live in their guesthouse, but were getting to a point where they wanted him out: "Nick had been living in their guesthouse, the same one he destroyed more than once, but it had been like a revolving door all his adult life. He would do meth and not sleep for days and then have outbursts, breaking things, punching walls. He was a ticking time bomb. His drug use was getting worse and his parents wanted him out." He would talk about this stuff in meetings, but then stopped going because he said it was too cultish. He laughed about destroying his parents' guesthouse more than once. He was so nonchalant about it. He kept saying he hadn't touched heroin, and that he could handle his weed, but that turned into meth and staying up for days and not eating." That's so incredibly awful. The insider went on: "He really had no control. He busted his hand when he punched the bathroom wall and refused to get help. He would fight with his parents because they would give him the ultimatum, take medication and stop using, or move out. When he started threatening his sister for confronting him that's when all hell broke loose. His parents threatened to call authorities multiple times, but in the end didn't." How tragic to now know that he would go on to murder them in cold blood. It just goes to show the type of people Rob and Michele were... they had undying love for their child and continued to support him through everything. As we previously reported, a 2018 interview has resurfaced in which Nick described one explosive incident in particular where he wrecked the guesthouse. Host David Manheim asked him on the Dopey podcast at the time: "What about when you wrecked the guesthouse on meth?" Nick revealed: "I went 10 rounds in my guest house ... I got totally spun out on uppers. I think it was coke and something else. I was up for days on end ... I started punching out different things in my guest house. I started with the TV and then went over to the lamp. Everything in the guesthouse got wrecked." The host asked if Nick's outburst was a way to relieve pent up anger, but Nick offered a different explanation: "No, you're crazy. No logic." Elsewhere in the episode, Mannheim, a recovering addict himself, urged Nick to give sobriety another chance. You can listen to more (below): What are your reactions to this news, Perezcious readers?
