UPDATE - 12/15/25, 4:52 p.m. ET: President Donald Trump is doubling down on his previous critical comments about Rob Reiner after the director was murdered in his home on Sunday, December 14. While addressing the media on Monday, December 15, a reporter asked Trump, 79, if he stood by his remarks about Reiner after several Republican officials condemned the president's statement. "Well, I wasn't a fan of his at all," he said. "He was a deranged person as far as Trump is concerned." Trump added that he believed Reiner was "bad for our country" as the director was outspoken against the administration. On Monday, December 15, hours after Rob, 78, and Michele, 68, were found dead inside their Los Angeles mansion, Trump, 79, took to his Truth Social platform. "A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS," Trump wrote. "He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before," he added before ending with, "May Rob and Michele rest in peace!" "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner," a spokesperson for the family said. "We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time." In 2016, he spoke to People about being homeless for a period of his life. "I was homeless in Maine. I was homeless in New Jersey. I was homeless in Texas," Nick, 32, said. "I spent nights on the street. I spent weeks on the street. It was not fun."
