Piers Morgan spoke to Rob Reiner about his legacy three months before his tragic death. "I'm not expecting this to happen anytime soon, Rob, you're looking like a fine, healthy figure of a man," the journalist, 60, asked Reiner during a September interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored. "But should the moment come when we need to remember the work of Rob Reiner, which is the one for you, of everything that you've ever done, that you'd most like to be remembered for?" Reiner, who was an actor and iconic director, revealed which project had a special place in his heart. "People have their favorites, the cliche [is], we love all our children, even the bad ones," he joked, before giving his official response. "I always say, Stand By Me, to me, is the one that meant the most to me." The film, which is based on Stephen King's novella The Body, stars Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman and Jerry O'Connell. The film follows a group of boys who set out on a journey to find the body of their missing friend. "I don't know that it's the best; it's for other people to decide," Reiner continued. "But it's the one that meant the most to me because it really is an extension of my personality and my sensibility. It has a mixture of humor and melancholy and emotion ... It's closest to me of all of the films I've done." Morgan, for his part, told the director he was a big fan of his film When Harry Met Sally. The broadcaster reshared the clip of his now ominous conversation with Reiner on social media one day after news broke of Reiner's death. It was later reported that a 78-year-old man and 68-year-old woman had been killed. The family's spokesperson subsequently confirmed that Rob and Michele were the deceased.
