Emily Henry's hit novel-turned-Netflix film adaptation, People We Meet on Vacation, will soon be gracing our screens, and we are counting down the days! The film, which is directed by Brett Haley, is slated to be released on January 9, 2026. Henry, 34, teased fans in early July 2025 about what the film would look like and the star-studded talent expected to portray the book's main characters. "I've been kind of an anxious wreck about who would play these characters," Henry told Netflix at the time. "I truly could not feel more confident that my readers, and then so many more people who don't even know about the book, are going to completely fall in love with Poppy and Alex." Blyth's breakout role was as young Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes in 2023. Emily Bader Daniel Escale/Netflix That same month, it was announced that Bader, 29, would star alongside Blyth as the other lead character, Poppy. Bader starred in My Lady Jane as the titular character in 2024. She was also featured in the 2023 Hulu original film Fresh Kills alongside Jennifer Esposito, Odessa A'zion and more. Sarah Catherine Hook Daniel Escale/Netflix Hook, 30, who graced our screens in the most recent season of The White Lotus as the middle child of the chaotic Ratliff family, Piper, will be playing Sarah, Alex Nilsen's long-term girlfriend. The couple have a rocky on-again, off-again relationship. Before this role, she also appeared in Prime Video's TV series remake of Cruel Intentions as the lead character Caroline Merteuil. Miles Heizer Daniel Escale/Netflix Heizer, 31, will play David, a college friend of Poppy and Alex. Previously Heizer appeared in 13 Reasons Why and Parenthood, but most recently he starred in Netflix's Boots as Cameron Cope. Jameela Jamil Daniel Escale/Netflix The Good Place alum, 39, will appear as Swapna, Poppy's mentor and boss. Jamil is an outspoken mental health and body positivity advocate. She's previously appeared in Poker Face, Love at First Sight and A Merry Little Ex-Mas. Lucien Laviscount Daniel Escale/Netflix Laviscount, 33, will play Trey, a character who was added to the movie adaptation - perhaps to cause conflict in Poppy and Alex's relationship dynamic. Trey is Poppy's boyfriend. Laviscount currently portrays Alfie, a love interest to the titular character, in the series Emily in Paris. 'People We Meet on Vacation' 1st Look Teases Alex and Poppy's Love Story Lukas Gage Daniel Escale/Netflix Gage, 30, plays Buck, a supporting character, who Poppy and Alex meet in Canada, while on one of their many adventures. Gage is known for roles in The White Lotus, Companion, Euphoria and more. Tommy Do Daniel Escale/Netflix Do will play Nam, who is also someone Poppy and Alex meet during their travels. Do is featured in Overcompensating, Hacks, The Other Two and more. Alice Lee Phillip Faraone/Getty Images Lee, 36, will play Rachel, whose connection to Poppy and Alex isn't clear yet, but it's been speculated that she will be another person they meet along their travels. Lee originated the role of Heather Duke in the off-Broadway production of Heathers: The Musical in 2014, and she appeared in Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist as Emily Kang. Alan Ruck Michele K. Short/Netflix Ruck, 69, will appear as Poppy's dad, Jimmy. Ruck is known for his role as Cameron Frye, the titular character's best friend, in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. He's also appeared in hits like Twister and the critically-acclaimed series Succession. Molly Shannon Frazer Harrison/WireImage Shannon, 61, will appear as Poppy's mother, Wanda. The former SNL cast member is also known for her roles in Superstar, Never Been Kissed and Serendipity, to name a few.
