Bloomberg / Bloomberg via Getty Images Amidst the outpouring of grief that's followed the horrific deaths of legendary filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, US President Donald J. Trump has taken the absolute worst path when it comes to addressing the tragedy. Amy Sussman / Getty Images Earlier today, he shared an incendiary Truth Social post in which he suggested their deaths were "reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME." Kevin Dietsch / Getty Images Unsurprisingly, the post prompted strong backlash from almost everyone with a pulse, including the hosts of The View."All the disgusting things that Donald Trump has done, this is right up there." @ananavarro reacts to Pres. During a press conference this afternoon in the Oval Office, Trump astoundingly (but, somewhat unsurprisingly) doubled down on his previous remarks.

Trump on Rob Reiner: He was a deranged person... Trump derangement syndrome. I was not a fan. I thought he was very bad for our country. pic.twitter.com/PvXJDjUnfZ- Acyn (@Acyn) December 15, 2025 @Acyn / Fox News / Via Twitter: @Acyn After a reporter asked Trump if he "[stands] by" his post following the backlash, he replied, "Well, I wasn't a fan of his at all. He was a deranged person, as far as Trump was concerned." Bill Pugliano / Getty Images "He said - he knew it was false, in fact it was the exact opposite - that I was a friend of Russia, controlled by Russia. You know, it was the Russia hoax. He was one of the people behind it." CHARLY TRIBALLEAU / AFP via Getty Images "I think he hurt himself, career-wise. He became a deranged person - Trump Derangement Syndrome. So I was not a fan of Rob Reiner at all, in any way, shape, or form. I thought he was very bad for our country." John Lamparski / Getty Images Well, there you have it, I guess. Let's hope no one asks him about the subject anymore, because he clearly doesn't have anything of substance to say about it.
