Nick Reiner has been very candid about his addiction and mental health struggles. On Monday, the 32-year-old was arrested and charged after allegedly murdering his parents Rob and Michele Reiner in their Brentwood home on Sunday afternoon, allegedly slitting their throats. Not even 24 hours after the father and son got into a "very loud argument" at Conan O'Brien's holiday party the night before. According to TMZ intel, Michele had expressed to friends in recent months that they were running out of ideas to help their son defeat his demons. Nick had a history of addiction struggles and mental health challenges, and it even caused him to be homeless for a period of time. Reflecting on his past behavior, Nick recalled once destroying his parents' guest house while on drugs! He shared: "I went 10 rounds in my guest house." The 32-year-old added: "I got totally spun out on uppers - I think it was coke and something else - and I was up for days on end. I started punching out some things in my guest house." His violent rage "started with the TV," which he "literally punched," and "went over to the lap." The screenwriter detailed: "Everything in the guest house got wrecked." He couldn't remember if he injured his hand after punching the TV glass, but he knew there was "no logic" behind the fit. He was just "pissed that [his] parents told him he 'had to go.'" Two years prior, in 2016, Nick told People his parents urged him to go to rehab, which he did many times. But on the occasions he pushed back at seeking professional help, he was forced out of the home: "If I wanted to do it my way and not go to the programs they were suggesting, then I had to be homeless." At the time, he credited the challenging experience for making him into the man he is.
