News broke in December 2025 that two people - a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman - were found dead at Reiner's Brentwood, California, home. A spokesperson for the Reiner family later confirmed that Rob and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, had been identified as the deceased. "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner," a statement shared with Variety read at the time. "We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time." Details about their deaths were revealed in a press conference held by LAPD Deputy Chief Alan S. Hamilton. He confirmed that Rob and Michele were found with "apparent stab wounds," noting that the LAPD had "not identified a suspect at this time" and were not pursuing a person of interest.
